Fans for every school occasionally claim that their team is being slighted by a particular announcing team or media talking head. At Nebraska, however, the suspicion runs much deeper. So deep, in fact, that it's become an obsession."On occasion, they are critiqued almost as much as the game itself. Once in a rare while, you will hear a sports announcer/analyst receive praise from a fan. But more often they are called terrible or - worse than that - biased: Announcer X hates Nebraska. This type of thinking has gone on for as long as I've been a Husker fan, although I've rarely understood it. The claims of bias range from seemingly innocent comments from announcers to the number of College Gameday visits or even the length or number of highlights shown on national media outlets.
Some might call it paranoia. Some are sure of its truth. There are those out there who are quite certain Brent Musburger has it in for Nebraska. Or that Mark May plots out his lines with the intention of making some guy in Omaha shout foul words at his television."
For instance:
"Announcers are always against Nebraska," one Big Red fan from Colorado recently opined on the Journal Star blog. "I think it started out as an East Coast bias and blossomed when we kept beating the (tar) out of all their precious East Coast schools."Quite frankly, Nebraska hasn't been beating the tar out of anybody lately, but that certainly hasn't diminished the banging of the conspiracy drum. Fortunately, not every Husker fan is buying into the sensationalism.
"Parsing each and every word the announcers utter for any hint of bias against Nebraska is an absolute waste of energy," wrote another fan. "Nothing takes the fun out of watching a game like listening to your companions whine incessantly about something that has no bearing whatsoever on the game's outcome."Ah, common sense, a breath of fresh air.

The Huskers are a whinnnnning "used to be pretty good" football team that is no longer feared. They have lost their appeal and recruits no longer are swayed by with their "we're better than anyone else attitude". They will never recover from this down period. Nebraska football is very aveerage, so don't blame the media,

Pretty Good? Is this an attempt at a joke? I know most college fans are quite jealous of the Nebraska mystique and dominance of college football, but 'prety good'???? I will agree things are a bit down now - some bad choices in the athletic dept accounts for that - but I will accept the cyclical changes in college football FINALLY caught up with Nebraska and look forward to another 40 year stretch of dominance in the next cycle. This to shall pass my friend!!!

it seems roger is either clueless or lost. he must be a sec fan. reality is nebraska is one of the most storied programs in all of college football. as an ou fan i have total respect for them and nebraska will be back. all programs have down years but the great ones recover and arent down long. nebraska fans are correct in their belief that the media is biased against them. ive only seen the media twice EXPLOIT children both times by espn. 1st time was 2001 when a neb fan (child) was shown crying because his team lost then last year when they showed an ou fan (child) crying. espn might think this is cute and funny but its serious enough to the point i have written espn once and got blown off. im going to write vp public relations josh krulewitz about it and offer bringing it national if their isnt an apology 1st to the exploited children and their parents, 2nd to the great states of nebraska and oklahoma, and 3rd an apology to viewers who tune into espn expecting ethical, moral, and professional programming. josh krulewitz has demanded youtube stop showing chris berman clips yet its ok for espn to EXPLOIT children to promote their agenda in defaming both great universities. i say bs to all of it.

There is no pretty good about it NU was a great program, the key word is was. I am a rabid but realistic fan. Will they totally dominate again, NO but neither will anyone else. Circumstances change. As for the media bias it is BS. The past few years I have listened to announcers trying to find something good to say about a mediocre team. As far as Mussy Berger goes he is still pissed for being arrested in Lincoln and for him I go to Dan Fouts and the Waterboy. "Shut up Brent"
