This John Amaechi story simply refuses to die. It's like Michael Myers!Amaechi appeared on Andrew Siciliano's radio show recently, and when Siciliano asked him why he didn't get along with head coach Jerry Sloan when he played for the Jazz, the Brit opened up a whole new can of worms:
"No, it's not because I was gay, that he didn't like me. That was part of it, but it shouldn't have been part of it. He also didn't like me because he thought I didn't like white people. And the fact is my mother is white, so I'm kind of insulted by that in certain. He is a beligerant man. He is a cruel man in many respects.Siciliano, like any responsible radio show host would do, attempted to throw a little bit more fuel into the fire:
This is not about my inability to take criticism. It's my inability to be called an f'ing c on a daily basis."
... Siciliano: Is he the worst coach you've dealt with? Amaechi: "No, he's the best coach I've ever played for in terms of his technical ability. And without a doubt, he's the worst the person I've ever met in my entire life, in terms of dealing with people."Wow. Those are pretty strong words. For years, we've all heard about Sloan being a hard-ass to play for, but this the first time I've ever heard anyone come out and say he's the worst person in terms of dealing with people. It seems a little harsh.
I'm not saying we should discredit Amaechi's claims, though; after all, very few of us have ever had the pleasure of being called a f'ing c on a daily basis.

John wants his name in the papers, I guess. Next he'll be telling us about the pony he didn't get for Xmas and how the cat ripped up his homework. John is gay and Sloan is a hardass. That's life.....deal with it or grab a chair on "The View".

John is a baby... And no one cares that he is gay.
I don't see other Jazz players being babies years later after they played for Sloan.

Gee...you'd figure the seven foot black sissy and the hardass military-style coach would have mixed like gravy and potatoes, no?
Imagine Johnny Am playing for Knight? God should have given us that, once.

Unfortunately, John has chosen to take the easier way out. We hear people praising him for his courage, and feeling for him because of his "struggles" as a gay man in the NBA. Actually, he is quite the opposite. He is a coward. Rather than come out and make his hardships known while he was playing and face his so-called "tormentors", he decided he would wait until the 3 people in the world who knew who he was would forget about him and his sorry career as a 12th man in the NBA. He was a nobody, he is a nobody, and he is using his affliction to lash out at the people who knew he was nothing but a bench warmer. If he was a real man, sorry, she-man, he would have said while he was playing, "I'm gay, I'm proud, and Jerry Sloan hates me because he thinks I am a racist". But instead, he hides in the shadows, has somebody write a book for him, and screams at everybody who ever knew what a loser he really was.

Amaechi is a sad punk who can't stand his fall from the limelight....even if it was limited.
And Siciliano continues making his career on his piss poor interview skills and negative tones. Constant inuendoes, constant insinuating (if there is smoke....) This man should work for the Enquirer

Why all the anti-John stuff? He is promoting a book. That really isn't anything unusual. Most authors do it. John was asked a question and answered honestly. He praised Sloan's basketball IQ, but also gave his opinion about Sloan as a person, in response to a direct question. So why all the hate?

Amaechi is not the first player to speak out against Jerry Sloan. Maybe, he should have pulled a Latrell Spreewell on Sloan and given America a real reason to hate.

Why is John called Black when his mother is white? He's Black and White; it's irrational to refer to him as Black. I'm Irish and French; am I either/or or am I both?????XXX!!?

How can anyone think it is okay to discredit and call people discrediting names--what is wrong with all of you that tell the world that it is okay to beat up people with words. This isn't about what you can take--it is about what is right and wrong. This stinks and people who support this behavior need to re-evaluate their views. Guess most of you had to live through this kind of stuff so you thnk it makes it acceptable! and I'll bet if you look deep down you'll find out that it didn't feel good to you and so you throw it on to other people rather than own that there is something wrong with this. After all you'll then have to feel angry and sad at the perpetrator. So stop perping and start supporting non-violence.
