Street Sense has won the 133rd Kentucky Derby with an incredible stretch run in which he went from 19th place to first. Street Sense won the 2006 Breeder's Cup Juvenile and was the favorite at 9-2. This is the 51st time that the betting favorite has won the Run for the Roses.
Trained by Carl Nafzger and ridden by jockey Calvin Borel, Street Sense had just two races as a 3-year-old before the Derby. He'll now be a prohibitive favorite to win the Preakness in two weeks, and he'll have a realistic shot of becoming the first horse to win the Triple Crown since Affirmed in 1978.

who cares about horse racing. to me it is cruel and heartless. watching these peons racing and watching the horse getting whipped to run. How would these peons feel if they were getting smacked at just to run. who cares about the money. This world is suffering enough all these races of everything needs to stop and focus on our country getting better and to have world peace.

When jockey Calvin Borel did his post race interview he reminded me of Sylvester Stallone's post fight speech in Rocky II when he won the heavyweight title from Apollo Creed and wept for joy because all of his hard work paid off. Congraulations to Calvin Borel for living proof of the saying "Never give up"

I always cringe when I see 2 and 3 yr old horses being raced. I saw on fall right in front of me and knew instantly that they would put him down. I have raised horses and did't even get on them until they were over 3. The poor animals' knees can't take the constant pressure of being ridden so hard. Don't get me wrong,I love to watch them run, and am so thankful that none of them get hurt, and cry when one does.

It was a great race...you have to a lot of credit to Hard Spun for hanging on to second after holding the lead for most of the race. Street Sense absolutely has an excellent chance of taking the Triple Crown. I think he will win the Preakness, but it will be interesting to see if someone can steal the Belmont from him.

It was wonderful to see a horse that was enjoying what he was doing and to see a jockey that did the same. The best part of the race was to see how Mr. Borel took the time to acknowlege his horse and what they as a "TEAM" had accomplished. That showed love, trust, and respect. Street Sense & Calvin Borel will go all the way!!! It was also heartwarming to see all the people that showed so much respect for the jockey with their congradulations before arriving at the winner's circle.

I heard on the whisper that Street Sence was taking a mushroom supplement called Mushroom Matrix. Supposedly, It increases the ability to uptake oxygen by 30%. Can anyone confirm this?

Bob, Street Sense was on the Mushroom Matrix. It is a natural supplement. It is also supposed to increase recovery time, which could help this weekend.
