While Bonds is slowing down a little bit in his quest to break Hank Aaron's all-time home run record, he's still making awfully good pace. As we've known for a while, this thing is happening, whether people like it or not. Bud Selig, apparently, is not nearly as aware as the average fan:
"Is he really approaching?" Selig, a longtime friend of Aaron, said facetiously after owners finished their two-day meeting. "I don't have anything different to say today. I'll make a decision at some appropriate time."
Obviously, Selig's joking about his lack of awareness ... but still, this routine is getting mighty old. Step up, Bud. Make a decision. Because the more and more you sidestep this, the more and more you make Bonds look persecuted, and the more and more you look like you're hiding from something.
It's either that, or make your feelings public. Say you believe every word of Game of Shadows, and say that's why you won't be viewing Bonds live. That would align you with, oh, about 98%* of baseball fans across the country. One or the other, Bud. The choice is yours.
*Possibly not true.

Your blog is sheer crock. I guess you never heard of booze, marijuana, body-building food supplements (what the heck was in those in the forties and fifties?), and even....chewing tobacco and other stimulants in vogue with every generation of ballplayers and record breakers. I guess you would have a "B" next to Ruth's record for booze; a "BUD" next to Maris/Mantles totals for booze, uppers, downers; and and "M" for marijuana, "BUD", and "CT" for chewing tobacco next to everyone else's record! Get off of it!!!! At 42, in what may be his second injury/steroid-free season since you all tried and condemned him and had him as washed up, Barry Bonds is delivering numbers that no one but Baseball's all-time most potent hitter could deliver! If I were Bud Selig I would be singing praises of him! A little bit of introspection would't hurt you either! Most Americans over fifty, that ever drank a beer, chewed tobacco, or muscled up to get a bit more power out of their performance didn't know crap about what was in that stuff! OK, so now we know, and we did some damage. The next "pure" generation of ballplayers will have a different standard. So, what is new? That's the way the ball bounces!

As a long suffering Brewer fan let me tell you BUD SELIG is a JOKE. He was a terrible owner and he is a worse commish. For over 30 years he hung his hat on "I brought baseball back to MIlwaukee" and nothing else. He has no class never has never will. Barry is Da Bomb and I hope he shatter Aarons numbers. Hank don't you remember the hate you were felt? If so show so love

Bud Selig is a hypocrite ! Baseball did nothing but adopt the military "don't ask don't tell" rule about steroids in the 90's. I didn't hear him complaining about steroids until Congress made a big deal about it. Meanwhile baseball raked in the moeny while Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, etc were bringing fans back after the strike. If he does not go to the games that Bonds can break or tie the record he is only making baseball & himself look like a hypocrite. Bonds is no saint & deserves to reap what he sows yet steroids alone did not make him break this record. Selig should be there to celebrate the occasion & take his lumps for his lack of leadership & integrity for not doing the right thing before Congress forced his hand. I am not a Barry Bonds fan & I am not a Barry Bonds hater >> yet you tell me that a professional athlete won't do whatever it takes to keep the competitive edge & be at the top of his game. Especially when you consider how much money is at stake for these guys, it's their body & I bet you money if steroids were around when Babe Ruth played he would have done them too !! Bottom line is that Alex Rodriguez will break the record if he stays healthy & I have not heard anyone say he does steroids >> and I am not a Yankee fan or Rodriguez fan ... I am just a baseball fan and you know what home runs are pretty exciting !!
