Bonzi Wells: Please Take Me Back

In a season filled with strangeness -- the wildly unpopular new ball crapping out, the old ball making a triumphant return, LeBron refusing to try, the Dallas thing, etc. -- perhaps nothing was weirder than the story of Bonzi Wells. He not only failed to show up for a game in Seattle, but he reportedly told the team that he wouldn't be available that night via a text message to the team's athletic trainer. Shortly thereafter, he was kicked off the squad for the remainder of the season.

With a new coach in town (someone who coached Wells in Sacramento), Bonzi is hoping for a second chance with the Houston Rockets.
"I thought it was like God sent him here for me. Rick Adelman is a great coach," Wells said. "He's the best coach I have ever had. He really knows how to relate to his players. He does a great job of letting guys be themselves."

"I have a decision to make and so do they. I wanted to be here even if Jeff Van Gundy was going to be here," Wells said.
While I hope that the talented, yet troubled Wells finds a spot in the League somewhere, I have a hard time picturing him in a Rocket uniform again. Teammates aren't very receptive to the idea of welcoming back a guy who walked out on them just before the Playoffs began.
