Move over Daytona International Speedway ... Dover International Raceway might soon take the title as Michael Waltrip's favorite race track. The Monster Mile gave Waltrip his first Nextel Cup pole, his first Busch series win and now his second 2007 season entry into the Cup field.

More than jubilation over his qualifying results, in his post quals comments Waltrip demonstrated frustration and gratitude to his supporters:I'm real thankful for all the help and the support we've gotten. I think we'll continuously get better. It's quite a position to be in and knowing you've been close so many times and rolling out there, I can't explain it. When your heart and soul is into something it is so hard to get it heading in the right direction. It is really tough to take. The start will pull Waltrip, who has been sitting at the bottom of the points standings all season long with -27, out of the red.
As soon as he takes the green flag he Sunday, he'll earn 34 points. A finish of 32nd or better could even move him ahead of Kevin Lepage, who failed to qualify for the 11th time this weekend.

Michael, as well as the rest of the Waltrip clan hail from Owensboro, Ky, not 90 miles from where I now reside. No matter what people think of his misfortunes this year, with all the pressures of his new endeavor, I might add, he's a good guy. Looks like things might be starting to turn around... Good for you, Michael!

Mikie,
I know you will get it together. Why don't you ask Jr to join your team next year. I think the 2 of you make awesome teammates.
