It may be June. The preview magazines may be hitting the shelves of newsstands. Fanhouse is moving to discussing the upcoming college football season. Not everyone, though, is ready to let us forget the 2006 season. The Rutgers-Louisville game was just named the "College Football Game of the Year," by the US Sports Academy.Rutgers received a General Scholarship Award of $5000, a shadow box encasing a medallion and proclamation and Artist Proof #1 of foremost college football artist Daniel A. Moore's "Resurgence," which depicts Ray Rice's key run in the final drive of the Rutgers-Louisville game.Daniel A. Moore is best known for his paintings of key moments from Alabama games and lately being sued by the Crimson Tide. You can see an image of the print here, which will be available to purchase in July.
Rutgers and Coach Greg Schiano are shilling their just released DVD season highlights to last season called "Pandamonium in Piscataway." Coach Schiano seems fully committed to promoting it.
"I just try to address it, be straight with them," he said. "Nobody cares (what you did last year). As a matter of fact, it only makes you more of a target."That and having one of the incoming recruits being arrested and charged.
Rutgers officials are investigating the arrest of incoming recruit Desmond Wynn on recent charges of theft. Wynn, a 6-6, 250-pound defensive lineman who played at St. Mark's in Delaware, was charged with three counts of theft for under $1,000 and three counts of committing mischief after he admitted breaking into a locker at school and taking a cell phone, Blackberry and cash, according to a Delaware state police report.Tux rentals for a guy that size are probably a little more pricey.
Wynn told police he needed the money for the prom.

1. anyone who was at the RU/'ville game will never forget............may have been one of the most exciting games ever. Best I was ever at; and I had Giants tix for 30+ years ( even better then the '86 Super Bowl, and I was there, too.)
This years maybe better when we beat WVU( and that game last year was pretty good, tho we lost
in Morgantown....I was there, too)

2. Yes, the RU/Louisville game was great. But, the best college game that I can remember was the 1974 USC/Notre Dame game at the Coliseum. I was there and that game was unbelievable! SC was down 24-0 in the first half, then Athony Davis runs the 2nd half kick off back for a touchdown and the rest was history! SC shuts out ND in the 2nd half, final score 55-24.

3. The first college games that I went to were UCLA games in the Coliseum in the 'sixties, including UCLA/USC games (Gary Beban vs. OJ Simpson) that were billed as the games of the century and that lived up to their hype, BUT no sporting event that I've ever been to in my life was as exciting as the Rutgers-Louisville game of November 9, 2006.
I feel sorry for anyone who only saw it on TV. The atmosphere was electric for hours before and hours after the game. My section is not a student section, but we never sat down, except during halftime. Sell your television and go to a game at the Stadium this year if you really want to know what Rutgers football is all about (you may have to sell something bigger, like your soul, if you don't already have tickets for the Mountaineers).
