You never want to jump to any conclusions, especially when it's something as significant as finding dog remains on Michael Vick's property. However, after watching a WVEC.com TV broadcast, it does appear like investigators have found something. While no statement or report has officially been given, speculation has already begun around the net after this video surfaced. ProFootballTalk was the first to chime in and suggest that perhaps something had been unearthed at Vick's former Virginia property.
Toward the middle of the video you will notice an investigator who stops digging and proceeds to point at something in the ground. He then carefully scrapes away a little additional dirt before calling for a white breathing mask. And as PFT noted, that's not exactly something you want to wear in 90-degree heat unless you can not deal with an awful, awful smell.
Again, this is pure speculation at this point. I'm not going to sit here and say something was found, but I will say that it does appear like something was found.
I'm sure we'll all know more in the not-so-distant future.

Yep, dead dogs will definately tie Vick to dog fighting right? Right?

Actually, remains might not tie him to dog fighting. If he is a licensed breeder, he may have had dogs die or be euthanized from time to time. They don't live forever, after all. Hey, I think he is guilty, but evidence that will stand up in court is another matter.
The standard of proof however for the NFL commissioner and the Falcons organization should be, and probably is, lower. Here's hoping for a lengthy suspension for Vick.

Hey JMW, do you think that a euthinized dog from a breeder would look a little different from a dead dog involved in a dog fight?
idiot

Storm Rider,
I'm no forensic expert, but I suppose it would depend on the type of dog fighting injuries that resulted in the death of the dog and the degree of decomposition. I think a quick kill that severes a major blood vessel resulting in the dog bleeding out on a carcass that has been buried for some time could look like a euthanized dog. In cases where there are broken bones, how would they tell whether the injury was a result of some sort of accident or a fight? Perhaps the dog was injured and euthanized as a result. Breeders are typically in the business of making money and may be unwilling to spend the funds on vet care. Of course, lots of dead dogs with broken bones would be an entirely different matter.
I guess we'll all just have to wait and see.

You don't think scars on dead dogs that result from big bites - torn over a hour or two - will look different from a dog that has been put down by chemical means? All you all city boys who think that way????????????/

Wait a minute, if Michael Vick was supposedly never at this property, then how could the bodies of his breeding dogs find their way there? And I think we are all forgetting the victims here; it is not the Falcons, the NFL, football fans, or Michael Vick; it is these dogs who were made to brutalize each other for the purposes of a cheap human thrill. If dogfighting did occur on this property, as it appears to have, someone should be punished, period.

Wait a minute here, how could Michael Vick's breeding dogs end up dead and buried on a property he alleges never to visit? And the big picture here is not about how much Vick, his fans, the Falcons, or the NFL are suffering because of this story...it is about the dogs, the real victims of this despicable "sport", who are made to brutalize each other for the purpose of nothing more than a cheap human thrill. If dogfighting did in fact occur on the property, as it appears is the case, then the person or persons responsible should be punished to the full extent of the law. End of story.

Sam the dogs lived on the property NOT Michael Vick, so of course the remains of the dogs would be on the property. San Diego shooting the dog is a lot faster and cheaper than chemical euthinization. Dogs no that no longer fit into a breeding program are often culled, either thru sterilization and placeing in a pet home, or by death. Having dead dogs with scars on the property does not mean an organized dog fight. Scars, and subsequent death of a dog could be the result of a yard accident. A yard accident is when one, or more of the dogs gets off its chain or kennel and fights with another dog. Yard accidents can happen in any breed. As JMW pointed out, depending on the degree of decompasition, it will be very difficult to determin cause of death.

Well, Well, Michael Vick is a fine example of God giving someone all the physical talent in the world and a brain to match. Michael choses to exercise the physical part of his body and let his brain rot.
What a waste!

Multiple dog carcasses on residential property engenders the following questions:
1. Cause of death: multiple dog-biting wounds? Mercy killing? Or some hybrid of the two?
2. How were the carcasses located? Informant? If an informant pin-pointed the location, then the informant now has credibility.
3. How did the informant know about the dog carcasses? Was he there or did he get the information from yet another source?
4. If the number of carcasses are many, then why so many? The greater the number, the greater the probability of unnatural dog deaths.
Multiple unnatural dog deaths and a credible informant can be gravely problematic for Vick. The former proves dogfighting, the latter may place Vick at the fights.
At least one internet site reports that the Vick property was sold for less than half the original purchase price. Why? And what can be said for the timing?
Lastly, I leave you with an axiom that I learned from an FBI training course. According to FBI studies, the greater the denial by a suspect, the greater probability that the denial is geniune. Surely, each of us can relate to this conclusion. Imagine your reaction if you were falsely accused of dogfighting. Where is Michael Vick's defiance? His defiance has been quelled by his lawyer--probably for a very good reason.

This is going to end very badly for Vick if so, and very sad if this is true unfortunately. Lets not speculate too quick, it could be anything, it cant be uncommon to find dogs since like people said, they dont live forever and can get hit by cars, get sick etc.

The fed's are dumb asses.... they believed yet another source of there's and wasted resources and tax payer’s money. All that yesterday and only walked away with one piece of plywood and a small card board box. Hahahaha.... Where the hell is the 30 or more dog's? The informant's told them exactly where they were buried, and yet still they walk away with nothing. One state police officers assisting the federal investigator's leaving the scene last night told reporters "he never want's to see this place again" After digging all day for nothing I can feel his pane. This case is nothing but a witch hunt. And I'm gone....

If it's a dog that fought to its death, it should be jail time for Vick.

There would appear to be a pletora of evidence even if animal carcasses are not found. By now, however, due to simpleton Gerald Poindexter's "hesitation" to execute a search warrant on a property that had already been searched and evidence seized (again, what a Fred Flintstone he is) - some of the evidence could well have been removed.
Poor Mick - owning an expensive property and then not knowing what is going on there - or with his web site - Vick's K-9 Dogs, etc. Gee - the lad is just "loaded" with bad luck, eh?

if there are that many dead dogs, it can't be natural causes. having worked at a large animal hospital, i've seen animals die. there werent even dead animals every day, from all the thousands of clients (maybe hundreds, not sure). if you people dont see the connection then you are dumber than a bag of rocks.

d-man,...I suggest you read the most recent Rick Reilly column on the back page of Sport Illustrated. It is an interesting article concerning Pacman, and the national media freakout as you call it. What would you have them do or say to or about Josh Hancock that wasn't already said? The man is dead, so it is kinda hard to hold his feet to the fire there buddy!! The antics of Pacman and his entourage left one person dead, two seriously wounded, and one paralyzed for the rest of his life. Then ole Pacman has the audacity to take out a full page add whining that when he was suspended by the NFL for the year "it was the worst day of my life". I think the paralyzed victim and the families of the dead victim are having a prett hard time choosing which of each passing day is the worst day of THEIR lives. And for what? Just being at work when Pacman entered their lives and forever changed it, or ended it. Your comparison is complete garbage!! When your mind is already made up about the establishment and the oppressed black athlete, then your eyes will never be open to any other possibility, or to reality. For every black athlete you can name that has gotten a shaft by the establishment, I will name you two white athletes that got worse. You just fail to mention, or perhaps remember any of them (because again, your eyes are blinded by your prejudice)
