Regular purveyors of the sports blogosphere are most likely already hip to this interview, but if you don't fall into that category, let me catch you up to speed.
Will Leitch, he of Deadspin fame, accepted an invite to interview new MLB.com employee Harold Reynolds on Friday. Today, he transcribed the interview on his site. HR talked with Will about a myriad of topics, including whether or not he's heard from some of his former ESPN colleagues.
Kurkjian and Peter (Gammons) have called, and I speak with them a lot. Ravech has tried to contact me a couple of times. The main people I worked with were Peter, Karl, Krukie and occasionally Kurkjian, and everybody's contacted me except for Kruk. I'm not gonna sit here and slam him, though.I don't know if I necessarily agree with Reynolds' assessment that people are afraid to talk to him because of the lawsuit. You know, I'm sure it's just John Kruk is busy creating rock operas and such. But anyways, come on fellas. Look at that picture of both of you. I feel the love. Someone make a move and pick up the phone. The world awaits.
I think what has happened with most of the people at ESPN is, because of the lawsuit, a lot of people are afraid to get in touch with me. It's not that they don't like me. I understand.

1. So John Kruk won't get in touch with Harold Reynolds, good God that's no big loss. Who would want to be associated with that fat slob anyway, he always looks like he needs a bath and like he has been sleeping in his cloths. I listened to him talk about Brady Quinn needing to learn how to dress last night and nearly choked. Reynolds always looks great and well dressed. The farther he stays from Kruk the better off he is. ESPN lost one hell of a good reporter when they pulled that stupid stunt of running Reynolds out. As for Kruk he is ruining Baseball tonight and no one cares what he thinks. They just turn the channel.

2. The awkward because of lawsuit looks right. Having been involved in those . . . ;However, who knows or why would we care? Although, we're talking about two good men.

3. There is the 'fellows, boy's club' of life...and there is the real world of adult paychecks, working for Disney ( owners...), and walking backwards away from a percieved trouble maker, when lawsuits are being discussed... You watch your back, your family , and you turn away...Simple.

4. Barb, did you have time to comment on Harold's sexual haressment charges on a co-worker, or is his face, waistline, smile and clothing choices, more important to you, regardless of your age ?

5. Lex, leave barb alone. She said her peace. You said yours. No matter what world you live in. The real world or your phony world. True friends do not turn there backs on you no matter what is going on in your life. Good or bad.

6. My whole take on this situation? John Kruk can choose to socialize or contact anyone he wants to. If he feels it's not in his best interest to publicly or privately associate with Harold Reynolds that's his choice and his only. It has nothing to do with his ability or effectiveness as a baseball analyst. Harold Reynolds may have gotten a raw deal from the PC Police - or, he may have been an obnoxious, harrassing boor with women who worked there - only he and the people who worked there know for sure. I do miss his analysis, his opinions and his knowledge of the game - to me he was indeed a polished, articulate professional while a member of the Baseball Tonite crew. What I do not care for is the number of women who are hired by ALL the networks to act as analysts, play by play or reporters in men's professional sports. They have never played sports at that level, and I'm not talking about "games" like Golf, I'm talking about real sports - the NFL, NBA or MLB, and NCAA Div I Football, Hoops or Baseball. I do believe there are plenty of future Jack Buck's or other legendary announcers out there - men who understand and can call a man's game - all they need is a chance. Get rid of the Tits and Ass - the pretty blonde faced bimbos - and get some men in there who have played the game and can give a perspective that only they can articulate. Television has been feminized enough - from the pathetic news anchors and reporters to the disgusting Sitcoms and "Drama" shows. Leave men's professional sports alone.
