The Kobe Saga continues...
Today, we bring you a short promotional video clip featuring an enraged Kobe Bryant supposedly going off on Laker management. What's astounding is that he's candidly talking to what appears to be a few random fans who just happened to have a camera on them. Anyway, these guys have set up a website and they're selling the potentially explosive video (in its entirety) to the highest bidder.
(Warning: Video is not safe for work due to language.)
Behind-the-scenes NBA FanHouse commentary after the jump:
As with most things, the video inspired a lively email chat, and here's some of what was said:
MJD: I'd like to see this video, but I honestly don't know what the big deal is about it... Basically, he's going to be saying the same things he's saying on his website, just adding the [F word] here and there. Which is awesome. But I wouldn't pay to see it. I know he wants Bynum and Odom gone, I know he thinks Smush Parker is [dumb] ... what are we going to learn here?
Marcel Mutoni: There's nothing new to learn from this video. It's just entertainment. Kobe is clearly nuts, but I love him. If he does get traded, I hope he ends up in New York. That would be beyond amazing.
Nate Jones: Like Marcel said, it's basically entertainment...
I just wonder why he would be idiotic enough to let some random fans record a conversation of him like that.
Marcel Mutoni: Clinical insanity. I'm not even joking. It's funny (and sad) that he's worked so hard over the last few years to rebuild his image, and now he's pissing it all away and he doesn't even realize it. Somebody needs to step up and write a book on this guy. If only Wiley or Halberstam were still around...

Is anyone else wishing this news would just stop? Granted there is not much happening before the draft, and I think there were some Finals recently -- unfortunately a few outside of San Antonio probably remember them. All I can say here as a life-long Lakers fan, if Kobe is traded -- I won't be buying tickets next year. And this video does not make things look good.

Kobe keeps whining about he has no one around to help him, yet lebron james is in the same position and took his team all the way to the finals. It doesnt seem to me like its the team that needs to upgrade and change. As great as kobe is supposed to be, I think we should see more out of him. Lebron is somewhat of a one man team like kobe, accept for the occasional night where other players step up, and he is handeling it fine. This shows kobe isnt the player he needs to be when a younger player is more mature than him. Kobe brought this on himself with driving Shaq away so he should deal with it.

just cut your losses with kobe hes at a point of no return with the lakers yah he is frustrated but throwing everyone under the bus in front of the media makes you look like a A-HOLE i think they could get alot of good players in return for kobe and remember one player doesnt make a team the idiots out in LA like him cause he is flashy but anyone with common sence would know good 3 players for one great player is far better then one great player with 4 average players which basically means kobe = greatness but with odoms and walton and bynum and smush = average at best trade kobe trade kobe build for the future duh!!!! all great things come to a end and hell this definately smells like the end you simply cant go back on what kobe said no matter who they trade for it will be a soap opera for years to come which in the end is a cancer!!!

The Lakers can not trade Kobe. You cant trade the best player in the game. Look what happened when they traded Shaq. They just need to get him some help, pull off a big deal or 2. Take the Lakers back to the top were they belong.

Tell Kobe, that he is suppose to be the big man in LA. Since Shaq's departure so shut up and play ball. Remind him when they WIN! he takes the credit and the same goes for when they lose. I once remember M. Jordan stating that his father talked with him, said it was his responsiblity to get his players involved, build up there game and when he did that he became the Greatest Player of all time. "AIR JORDAN"

Let's compare, shall we?
Lebon James made it to the Finals with this line up:
Cleveland
Shannon Brown G 6-4 205
Daniel Gibson G 6-2 190
Drew Gooden PF 6-10 242
Larry Hughes SG 6-5 184
Zydrunas Ilgauskas C 7-3 260
LeBron James SF 6-8 245
Damon Jones PG 6-3 190
Dwayne Jones F-C 6-11 250
Donyell Marshall F 6-9 230
Ira Newble G-F 6-7 220
Aleksander Pavlovic G-F 6-7 210
Scot Pollard C 6-11 265
Eric Snow PG 6-3 205
Anderson Varejao F 6-10 240
David Wesley G 6-1 203
Kobe Bryant, on the other hand, hasn't made it out of the first round with this line up since Shaq left:
Los Angeles
Kwame Brown F-C 6-11 270
Kobe Bryant SG 6-6 220
Andrew Bynum C 7-0 275
Brian Cook PF 6-9 258
Maurice Evans SG 6-5 220
Jordan Farmar G 6-2 180
Aaron McKie SG 6-5 209
Chris Mihm F-C 7-0 265
Lamar Odom SF 6-10 230
Smush Parker G 6-4 180
Vladimir Radmanovic PF 6-10 234
Ronny Turiaf F 6-10 249
Sasha Vujacic G 6-7 195
Luke Walton SF 6-8 232
Shammond Williams G 6-1 201
Review the line up and tell me who had the better supporting cast.
Their is an old Chinese curse that says something to the effect of " May you get what you wish for ".
Well Kobe, it's "your" team now, just like you always wanted.
Now, what do you do with it? You whine like a little school girl that got stood up for the prom, bash the people that pay you, insult the team mates that work their butts off night after night and know no matter what their numbers are that night, the spot light will never be on them, because it's "your team"
Yeah, your a class act all the way. When you said "winning was in your genes", I laughed out loud.
When Bird and Johnson came to the league, they didn't want to be like Erving. They wanted to lead a team. When Jordan came along, he didnt want to be another Bird or Johnson. He wanted to reinvent what winning was all about.
Kobe's biggest problem is he wants to be like Mike.
He has no integrity, no character and no sense of team.
I hope you lose Odom, Bynum and Sampson and get your Kidd or Gordan.
You have no concept of why your not making past the first round and if their is a God, you won't see another championship and the world will know there was a reason why Shaq won MVP of the Finals every year and not you

And...when I said Bird and Johnson didnt want to be like Erving, that was a compliment to Erving, not an insult.
Point being, that the greats reinvented what it took to win and not copied someone else.
Kobe scores, and he is good at it. That's all I see in him. No structure, no team concept. He gets his. Period.
And then whines when Buss doesn't fix the mess he has caused.
Maybe ther is a spot open on the Harlem Globetrotters.

Hey Tiffani,
you do realize that LaBron plays in the JV league dont you? This is the most ridiculous comparison ever. Kobe and last years Lakers could have made it to the finals as well if they were in the east...and could have taken at least 1 from the Spurs. Their 1st 2 opponents were the Wizards (w/major injuries) and the freak’in Nets. Lakers played the Suns who were undoubtedly good enough to win it all as well.
I hope you go to bed at night knowing how dumb you are?

The "JV League" Ryan has won 2 of the last 4 NBA Finals. 5 of the last 12.
Your parents may have raised you to call people "retard" and "dumb", mine did not.
That says alot more about you and where you come from than it does me.
The balance shifts every few years in all sports from league to league. And while I will agree that the west has what seems a superior number of teams in its league at the moment, the Finals haven't always shown that to be.
The point of my comments was simply to state that Lebron took a team that could be argued had a worse supporting cast and went past Detroit to get to the finals. While Kobe again couldnt get past the Suns who havent won a championship as far back as I can tell.
Kobe may be up against tougher teams in the playoffs, that fact could be argued, but the last time the Lakers faced Detroit "with Shaq", they didnt get it done.
This is an adult forum Ryan, not the third grade or your neighborhood where name calling may be all the rage.
While you may not agree with my comments, show a little class and leave the name callin behind your closed doors

I did forget to complete a sentence
The East have won 2 of the last 4, 5 of the last 12, 10 of the last 20.
Not too much of a JV league if you ask me

I agree with GUS, and he did a great job with the comparisions. Inspite of the Cavs being swept in the finals, LeBron is still a better player than Kobe because LeBron makes plays. Kobe on the other hand don't make plays because he's a ballahoglic and thinks about himself. So Ryan if Kobe did play in the eastern conference and face the Spurs in the finals, not only spurs will will sweep his team but they will commit suicide on Kobe's team ( meaning they'll scrap them by 40+ points) because he hog the ball too much. A one man team against the TEAM... c'mon.

exactly why he wants t oleave town. Full of idiots!! The dude has the balls to tell the world what is what. When cupcake passed on J-kidd,who didnt say exactly what KOBE said????
I know I did!!! I'm still pissed we watched those trades come and go. Who ever made the Cavs- Lakers comparison is an idiot-- you are the exact FAN that makes me root for Kobe and pray that he does end up somewhere where the GM isnt a total screw up and the owner is thinking about winning and not women 50 years younger then him!!
I guess I am not a true Laker fan, because from what I am hearing from the fans here, Laker fans are idiots. Yeah he called out Buss, Yes he call out Cupcake, Yes HE CALLED OUT BYNUM!!! THE DUDE CANT AVERAGE A DOUBLE DOUBLE FOR GOD'S SAKE AND WE KEPT HIM AND LEFT J-KIDD IN NEW JERSEY. PASSED ON ARTEST?? NOW WE ARE PASSING ON O'NEAL FOR BYNUM-- SCREW ALL OF YOU DUMB%SS FANS. lEBRO AND THE EAST--THERE IS NO COMPARISON-- THE CAVS WOULD'VE GOTTEN SWEPT BY THE SUNS!!! PERIOD!!
Bottom line Jerry Bus gave his son the reigns to the business and he has ran a championship contender to the ground!! All the while he has continued to profit off of Kobe's brilliant, hardworking play!! Kobe can't make them trade Bynum, the SAME WAY HE COULDN'T MAKE THEM TRADE SHAQ. FUNNY HOW IDIOTS LIKE YOU FEEL HE IS RESPOSIBLE FOR SHAQ

Compare the East from Top to bottom and the West from Top to bottom, then look at which conference is inferior. The east is definately the JV league. Lebron is not even close to the superstar as Kobe. Case in point, Lebron got locked down in the FINALS by Bruce Bowen. If Kobe would have been held to under 15 points, the media would have been all over him. Lebron gets a free pass. Why is that?? Kobe gets dissected whether he scores 81 or has a triple double with only 15 points. Give the guy a break, he's the best in the game.
The Lakers would be idiots to trade him. He is the star in Hollywood.

I'm confused. Why are we still debating about weather the east is the junior league or not? I don't understand that.
The topic was about Kobe being unhappy and in turn, the effectiveness of him being a higher scorer yet having a low success rate as far as wins and success in the playoffs.
I have already said that the west has a larger number of strong teams than the east, at the moment. I also stated the balance of power shifts every few years. Let's move on............But, I guess its cool to call one the JV for bragging rights for some. I could care less, honestly. Its all about wins
When I compared Lebron's supporting cast to Kobe's, my point was to say that Kobe's ability to score 80 points in a game does not equate wins in the regular season or the playoffs apparently.
I never said Lebron was better. I said, in so many words that he is less selfish and more about team ball than Kobe. He sees the big picture, while Kobe , aparently, wants the Finals trophy, but only at his terms. Can anyone really argue that fact?
That's not what won Jordan his six or that not what won LA their three.
I said Lebron and his "team" beat Detroit and that Kobe, even with Shaq, didn't get the job done against them. That was meant to convey that even though as a whole, the west may be stronger, individally an east team can and does do something that Kobe couldn't.
The bottom line when everything is said and done is, who won the game. It doesn't matter what player scored the most, who has the biggest shoe contract, etc, etc..thats all fluff stuff.
The only measure is who won the game.
Kobe isn't exactly getting the job done there. And he is blaming the owner, his fellow team mates and saying the sun got in his eyes.
I don't care if someone score 14 or 80. Just tell me who won
