Pacman Involved in Georgia Shooting?

Last week, after Pacman Jones opted not to appeal his one-year suspension -- ostensibly in the hopes that with good behavior, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell might reinstate him after just 10 weeks -- I wrote: "If he can somehow manage to cobble his off-field life together, quit "making it rain", and focus on the only job on the planet that will pay him millions of dollars to run around in a funny outfit and hit people, then all the better. Still, the rest of the summer and 10 weeks into the regular season is a long time. I'll believe he's changed when I see it."

Well, Michael David Smith, sitting in the captain's chair over at ProFootballTalk.com, points us to the latest news: Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones may be involved in a shooting early Monday at a DeKalb County strip club, according to media reports.

Good gravy. From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
Dekalb police said two groups of men got into an argument around 2:30 a.m. at Club Blaze, a Moreland Avenue strip club, WSB said.

Three men say they left the club in an SUV and were approached by Jones and his entourage in another SUV. When Jones' vehicle pulled alongside the other vehicle near I-285, someone opened fire. No one was hit by bullets, but one person was scratched by flying plastic, WSB reported.

Investigators want to question Jones, a College Park native, about the incident. No charges have been filed.
Who the hell knows Pacman's involvement in the shooting, but one thing is undeniable: the dude loves him some strip clubs. I mean loves. I have an idea that might keep him out of trouble and possibly help him make it back to the NFL this season: Pacman, put a stripper pole in your basement and have them come to you. If nothing else, it should reduce the likelihood of a drive-by. In theory, anyway.

UPDATE: From the AP:
"Jones, his entourage and three other people got into a fight, apparently over a woman, at a club in DeKalb County around 4 a.m., Officer Ariel Toledo said."

Toledo said Jones was not present when the shots were fired. "We believe he knows some of his entourage who were involved in the shooting," Toledo said. "On himself, we do not have any charges on him. He wasn't there when the shooting occurred."
So there you have it: Po-po isn't interested in charging Pacman with anything, they just want to question him about a posse member. Jones' slim chance of resuming his NFL career is still alive. For now, anyway.
