Whether steroids, the WWE or its owner Vince McMahon deserve any blame for the murder-suicide involving pro wrestler Chris Benoit will be a subject of great debate in the coming weeks.Count the former pro wrestler Joanie Laurer, better known as Chyna, among those who think McMahon and the culture of pro wrestling deserve a great deal of blame.
In an interview on Jim Rome's radio show, Laurer said there's a lot of blame to go around, and McMahon deserves a lot of it.
She said that she thinks steroids, depression, and mental stress were probably the main factors in Benoit doing what he did. She also blasted WWE and Vince McMahon, saying that McMahon tends to wash his hands of any tragedy that happens in WWE and that she has no respect for Vince McMahon.
Laurer also said the WWE hid Benoit's problems and described her own negative experiences in wrestling. Dozens of ex-wrestlers despise McMahon, and we will no doubt hear from many of them after this tragedy.

the name of the game is money and that's all vince mcmahon hears. as long as people continue to go to these events and sell out arenas around the world, these problems will continue. i just don't understand these wrestlers, they are not stupid, the info is out there to the dangers of steroids, so why continue to harm your bodies. doesn't make sense, does it.

Did anyone watch the impromptu 3 hour 'tribute' to Chris Benoit? It was obviously hard for any of the other WWE stars to come up with good things to say about Benoit other than about his technical mastery of the wrestling moves, everyone seemed to struggle to come up with good "personal" memories of him which seemed to say to me that there had to be signs of problems. Before the airing I had heard that the bodies had been found and that Benoit had "called in sick" I knew they were jumping the gun to hold a tribute that soon and told my husband that they would end up regretting putting on that show before it was over with and that I knew something bad was going to come out.

Brendan, that has to be the most tasteless thing I've ever seen in my life. If there was ever an inappropriate time for such comments...
As for what Ms. Laurer said, I neither agree nor disagree at this point. I'm still mulling this whole mess over in my head right now. I need more time to digest it before I solidify my opinions.

I knew Owen Hart. He was a friend. I also knew Chris Benoit. Unless you know these people on a personal basis until you can visit with them and vacation with them, it's hard to say anything because what you're saying is based on what the media is saying in one way or the other. It's very difficult for people who knew Chris on a personal basis to accept that he did any of this although the evidence is there. Ms. Laurer is surely stating a good opinion when she says that McMahon never takes any responsibility when wrestlers in his employ die under mysterious circumstances. He reminds me of a ex Cardinal Law of Boston, lie and deny and abuse. It seems everything McMahon touches turns to sh*(! No, he didn't tell Chris to do such horrible things, but at the same time, to have McMahon around anyone is poison. McMahon stands for money, greed, corruption and every other vice that exists in the world. I find no good in him on any level or anyone in his family for that matter, i.e, his children or his wife. Doesn't McMahon know 3/4 of the people in the world depise him and have nothing but disrespect for him and the WWE. To me, McMahon is a beast in every ugly sense of the word. I don't know what was running through Chris' head or heart this past weekend, but it's not characteristic Chris in any sense of the word, and that is why it's so painful to accept for his family and friends...I think pressure got to him, he held it in and exploded in the worst most possible way. I think he was pushed for sure, and I truly believe he snapped. Instead of us judging Chris, let's pray for him as he stands before the Ultimate of Judges. Only G-d can give Chris a form of mercy, understanding and forgiveness that no one on earth could even imagine or comprehend. However, it is Vince McMahon that deserves judgement. I remember what Martha Hart said about inviting McMahon to Owen's funeral. I wanted Vince to see Owen there in the coffin, to look at him. Owen is dead. ...Now the count is going up. Which wrestler may be next? The WWE or the men and women who seek fame through such a lowlife racket, are entering into a what many would call a contract with the devil. What is it to gain the world, but loose your soul?

I don't get it, why are people upset about a B grade actor offing himself? I feel for his poor wife and kid but this actor was obviously messed up. It's not like this guy was an athlete, he was involved in make believe theatrics, paid well and obviously snapped. Let it go......

I do NOT consider Wrrestling a sport. It is pure BS and stupid not to mention immature storylines. It is all about men that walk with tight pants and women almost naked. I feel that Vince should face up to reality and take some blame for what happens to his employees. I lost ALL respect for Vince after his make believe limo blast that killed him. How can any mature man have his daughter talk about his death in front of million of people worldwise? That is SICK, VINNY BOY!

Fake my ass. A chair to the head is a chair to the head. Let's see a baseball player do that every week. Let's see YOU do a swan ton bomb from 20 feet in the air and walk out of the arena. There is no way to do that every week WITHOUT something for the pain and sometimes even doctors dont take the "possible" side affects into consideration. As they look at it, "Who gives a shit if a dozen people have psychotic episodes and kill themselves (and/or others) if it helps thousands?" They figure that's an acceptable risk. THAT happens EVERY DAY to people all over America and no one cares because it happens to "nobodys". The fact that he placed Bibles by their sides and hung himself after the affects wore off shows that he himself was as horrified as we are by what he did and he couldn't live with it for the rest of his life. How many people out there could wake up, relize that they'd killed their kids/spouse while under the influence and live with themselves???? Not me. I'd hang myself too.

Well folks I hate to say I told you so and I did say all along before the tribute show started that the WWE knew about the tragedy before the cops found the bodies after the WWE called them to check... If what the cops and the WWE state are accurate (and they do agree and match on this) and the cops called the WWE at 4:00PM with the news of them entering the house and finding 3 deceased people as being ("one male, one female and a child"). Vince apparently told the wrestlers of the find after that and lets for argument sake say that he made the decission for the tribute show in place of Raw at that point .... it would be impossible to reschedule, and produce that 3 hour show with the reasearch required, viewing all the past Benoit Wrestling tapes and editing the best parts, then inserting them at appropriate times, interviewing the wrestlers for comments etc. Also the Corporate Sponsors for Raw would have to be notified and approve the show change. It takes that amount of time to produce a half hour News Broadcast. Therefore the WWE would have had to have knowledge of the deaths at least the day before.
I am now putting in an insert from ABC News that will back what I have said all along and if the I.P. address from this message finds it's way back to the WWE as the source (as they already know the I.P. address is from Stamford, Conn. ( home town of WWE Headquarters)there will be lots to answer for.
Now the message: At 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time Monday, June 25 -- nearly 13 hours before authorities would make their gruesome discovery inside the Benoit home -- an anonymous poster updated Chris Benoit's Wikipedia entry with the following information:
"Chris Benoit was replaced by Johnny Nitro for the ECW Championship match at Vengeance, as Benoit was not there due to personal issues, stemming from the death of his wife Nancy," the posting read.
The posting, which Wikipedia communications manager Sandra Ordonez confirmed to ABC News, was traced back to a Stamford, Conn., IP address. WWE headquarters are located in Stamford.
A volunteer editor flagged the post and notified the Web site's management, Ordonez said, before the company notified the police.
Somebody knew ahead of time!!! at least 13 hours before the find and because only Nancy was mentioned in the message, I truly feel that it came from knowledge on the Friday as that was the day she was murdered. No mention of Daniel in it. Someone knew Nancy was dead but at time of posting didn't know Daniel was dead and that post was entered after Daniel had been murdered and 13 hours prior to the Police finding the Bodies. Also remember that for 6 - 7 hours, any Reliable News source only gave you what the WWE had given to them.
I still say they were all murdered and there is somewhat of an inside conspiracy (don't know what it is) but whoever this annonomous poster was from WWE's Headquarter City, knew something and obviously had a conscience of sorts.. Again lets don't lynch the dead guy yet... I still say a triple murder set up to look like a double murder suicide.

We have no way of knowing if steroids caused Chris Benoit to kill his family. There were steroids in his house and he was taking them under care of a doctor. He too is being investigated. I stopped watching the WWE years ago. Having China who does have an axe to grind with the WWE . Come on what did you expect her to say? Brett Hart said there is drug testing in the WWE . It was stopped in the late 1990 and was picked up after Eddies death and he (Hart) said that he believed that the WWE was trying to address the problem with drug testing. For him to say that and admit to have used them I believe him. He also has an axe to grind and would not lie for the WWE. Steroids is a problem in all sports so to condemn the WWE as if they were the only ones with a problem is wrong.

Chyna can be expected at any opportunity to try to gain publicity and stay relevant by trashing the WWE and McMahon enen though she owes everything she has to them. One look at her track record the last few years shows that this is just another ungrateful display of her classless character

I have still not been convinced that Chris did this who says someone else wasn't there WHy do I say this well one thing did he call anyone to let them HEAR his voice no he text them well they say he was in a rage well in a rage I am not going to sit and try to type in a text when I could dial the number and say hey (it's like this) in stead of going to the trouble of typing it in unless I didn't want some one to know who was really doing this I just think every one should quit trashing the man until you know he wasn't a victom his self some one else could have sat this up to look like murder suicide
Confussed as how people can just jump on some thing like this now days you are guilty until proven innocent and he is not here to defend himself

Dear GAWD Joy get your head out of your back side. Even wrestlers will tell you it's 90% fake and scripted. They are ACTORS taught how to make it LOOK REAL. They train to fall to assist in being thrown. While the moves can be high risk they are still choreographed moves
As for the roids being a part of this. If any of you actually have doubts about it then WAKE THE HELL UP. Roid rage is a documented side effect.
Oh and FYI thats a VERY OLD pic of Joanie
