The daughter of former Cardinals Pro Bowl offensive lineman Luis Sharpe was found murdered on Tuesday or Wednesday, Sharpe told a local TV station.Sharpe's pre-NFL career was an inspirational story, his NFL career was a success story, and his post-NFL career has been a tragic story. He was born in Cuba and came to the United States with his family when he was 6 years old. He took up American football and earned a scholarship to UCLA.
After a very good college career, he was the Cardinals' first-round draft pick in 1982, and he became a three-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman for the Cardinals.
But since retiring in 1994, Sharpe has had problems with substance abuse, been arrested on assault and drug charges, been shot and been sentenced to two and a half years in prison. He would have been deported, except that the U.S. doesn't deport Cuban immigrants.
His daughter, Leah, was 23.

I grew up with this girl. I was friends with her. I was at her house every day. I'm just... in shock. I can't believe someone would do such a thing, she was such a good person. And after what he told the news it sounded like he thinks someone did it to get back at him.
I just... can't believe it.
