Jon Kitna Thinks He Can Throw 50 TD Passes

Is there any better story in the NFL this off-season than the Detroit Lions' ridiculous overconfidence? To review: Quarterback Jon Kitna thinks the Lions will win more than 10 games a year after going 3-13, while wide receiver Mike Furrey says the Lions will make the playoffs.

And now there's more. Kitna was a guest on ESPN Radio this morning, and when he was asked how many touchdown passes he'll throw this year, Kitna said:

"We've been joking around as the passing game, the receivers and tight ends and stuff, and we've been breaking down our little huddles and saying 50."

Yes, Kitna prefaced it with "joking around," but he sounded like he really believed it when he dropped the big 5-0. Peyton Manning's NFL record is 49. Jon Kitna is not Peyton Manning.

Still, this is getting fun, and I hope the Lions keep it up. Next: Matt Millen guarantees he'll win the NFL's executive of the year award.
