In the wake of the Chris Benoit murder-suicide, professional wrestlers are being asked to explain whether the culture of pro wrestling, specifically steroids, contributed to Benoit's actions. In interviews with Fox News Channel, two former WWE wrestlers, Bret "The Hitman" Hart and Chyna, had different takes on the issue:
Hart acknowledged that steroids have been prevalent in pro wrestling (no one would seriously dispute that), but he said steroids weren't necessary for a career in professional wrestling and that he actually thinks he wrestled better without steroids, adding, "The best wrestling matches of my career were steroid-free."
Chyna, on the other hand, was harshly critical of the WWE and its owner, Vince McMahon, and she does seem to believe that steroids and the culture of wrestling played some part in Benoit's actions. This kind of scrutiny for pro wrestling isn't going away any time soon.

Funny how Brett was mostly honest, but Joanie seemed to deny she used steroids in a roundabout sort of way. She never fully answered Greta clearly if she took them or not. She gave a fragmented answer.

Why even talk to Bret? Just because he is Canadian? Bret has been removed from the wrestling scene for years... I doubt he even had frequent contact with Benoit. He actually plays into the media hype that steriods caused this. That's crazy! As honest and well spoken as bret is..... he is just making it worse by even commenting. Don't get me started with Chyna....

Chyna doesn't know about 'roid rage? I'm surprised, you know, because she kind of beet up her ex Sean "X-Pac" Waltman a few years back.

its clear why they talk to Bret, he was close to Chris, has been in wrestling for years, may not be now but its important to interview wrestlers from the past when roids were being used more then ever in the wrestling world, and chyna, they cant really interview someone whos working for a company cuz i cant understand your employer being happy that your talkin about roids being used in the company. make sure to think about what your saying before you talk about Bret not being a good person to intwerview/Chyna

In any case--they all use steroids and other drugs.
Just like college football, cycling, NFL, MLB, NBA, Oympics swimming, track, and badminton too.
They always lie about it.
LIVE WRONG! Lance & Tiger do.

Brett is a good person to comment on this. He is very knowledgeable about the business and Benoit (as he really knows him and has for years - his father trained Benoit in his house)
Chyna...well she's just a joke. She broke down the walls a women wrestlers only doing powder puff matches (but i hated most of her matches). She says she never took steroids then says she didn't even know it would change her body (does she even know what she says?)

Chyna looks pretty damn high. And I call BS on her "not used steroids" response. She is the most roided up wrestler I know. She's had fits of depression and huge mood swings, both of which are symtematic of steroids. And she couldn't have been that large (muscular wise) without some sort of help, hell, she's been able to wrestle men because of it.
Brett has been a family friend of Benoit for years, so it is no surprise that he was there talking about it. In fact, it was Chris Benoit at the WWE "Hall of Fame" was there to introduce him at the induction ceremony.
Brett has been the most honest of all them. The fact that he admitted it on TV is fact that he is sincere about being honest. If you noticed, he's speaking on one side of the mouth, due to the fact that he suffered a stroke. His past steroid use may or may not have a factor in that, and steroids do have a lasting effet on the body even long after not using them for a long period. We've known that cancer is one of the results, and heart attacks/failure being another.
I hope the WWE and people in the business finally get their act together. I'd hate to see another child-hood hero become another "monster" disappointment in death.

That was, quite possibly, the most incoherant rambling yet about this whole horrific incident. I mean Laurer, of course, not Bret Hart, who did very well considering he's man who suffered a stroke a few years ago. Good call putting HER on, FOX News.

Actually Stonecold Steve Austin did introduce Bret Hart at the Hall of Fame, not Benoit.
However, Benoit was a Hart family member by privilege, a bit like TJ Wilson is for the new generation. Or Brian Pillman was.

It's pretty much assumed that Bret's stroke came from the multiple concussions he suffered that caused him to retire, and the motorcylce accident in 2002 when he landed square on top of his head; narrowly avoiding a broken neck. I don't think it has anything to do with steroids, as Bret never used them that much throughout his career.

Bret suffered a stroke because he was kicked too hard in the head by Goldberg, which retired him, and then he also fell off his bike and landed on his head as well. The combo head smackings were the causes of his stroke.

bret hart said in a early interview that he believes that if he wouldn't recieved a concussion from a asshole who didn't know what he was doing that he would've never took the stroke thank you very much.

Bret would never have suffered a stroke if Goldberg hadn't concussed him see the stroke was caused by a ot of things, stress and then the blunt trauma to the head and back of the neck remember when he suffered the career ending concussions part of one of the muscles in the back of his neck had a big hole in it about the size of a large marble and that hole will never heal

Lets get into a CSI mentality here for a second...Lets keep in mind that Nancy filed for a divorce some time ago and Chris received text messages from her many times. They also found beer cans, wine bottle and misc drugs including steroids at the house. A bible was found next to his sons body, which tells me he regretted killing his son, but he felt he HAD to do it for some odd reason. Being on the road for WWE and receiving badgering phone calls from his wife about divorce and not being there may end up being the reason for this tragedy. I have met Chris quite a few times as a wrestling fan and he was quiet, sometimes withdrawn and mainly just wanted to get to his hotel room and be left alone. I have met Nancy 4 times as a wrestling fan and she was the opposite, talkative, eager to answer any questions, but at the same time, it seems she was being nice just to look good to the public. I have no doubt that she may have been a nice person outside the wrestling world, but when it related to family and marriage she had to wear her publicity mask. As far as Vince and the WWE, I will continue to stand by their product and performers until they give me a reason not to. Chyna on "On the record" was a joke! First off, she had no mic skills in the WWE, and she proved to me she has none outside either. Her incoherant ramblings made little sense and she tried to push all the blame onto Vince, mainly because she couldnt hack it in wrestling. Buck up stupid and get a job that u can handle, like maybe a car salesman! Brett on the other hand is hurt and confused about what Chris did and just wants some kind of answer to why he did it and to what happened. As a wrestler and performer i still have the utmost respect for Chris, but as a family man and human being, respect does not even apply.
