Looks like Brandon Webb can cancel his vacation plans for the All-Star break, because he's now going to San Francisco. The Arizona ace was named to his second consecutive All-Star game, being selected for the team today as Brian Fuentes' injury replacement. Webb's selection was the product of league-wide respect:Because Fuentes was elected via the player ballot, Webb was named as his replacement because he drew the highest amount of player ballot votes (93) of any National League pitcher who was not already on the NL All-Star roster. That's an interesting note. Regardless of statistics (Webb has a less-than-impressive 8-6 record), opposing players around the league have recognized his excellence, which is a sign of great respect. Same thing with Fuentes, who prior to blowing four consecutive saves, had both excellent numbers, and an excellent reputation. I guess all is ending well in NL All-Star land considering three of the five pitchers on the final ballot have made the team -- Chris Young via the vote, Roy Oswalt as John Smoltz's injury replacement, and Webb as the replacement for Fuentes.

1. Brandon Webb made the team off of last year. he is 8-6. John Maine is 10-4 with a better ERA. He should be going to the All-Star game, not a player who gets in based on last years stats!
