Report: Lex Luger, Rey Mysterio Named in Steroid Probe of Chris Benoit's Doctor

ABC News is reporting that six pro wrestlers -- including Lex Luger, Rey Mysterio and Mark Jindrak -- have been named in the federal government's investigation of a doctor accused of giving steroids to professional wrestler Chris Benoit, who killed his wife and son last month before killing himself.

The involvement of Mysterio and Jindrak was first reported by TMZ, but TMZ later withdrew that report.

Dr. Phil Astin has been charged with seven counts of writing prescriptions improperly. He has acknowledged prescribing testosterone to Benoit, but he says he did so for legitimate medical reasons.

Many media commentators have speculated that steroid use might have played some part in the Benoit murder-suicide. The WWE insists that steroids could not have had anything to do with it. Toxicology results have not been released.
