When Terrell Owens began his career with the 49ers, he was touted as the original replacement for Jerry Rice. Rice, still with the team, was supposed to teach Owens a thing or two and make the transition smoother for all involved.
Nobody doubts that Owens has become a great receiver -- not on Rice's level, but who is? -- but some have publicly wondered why Owens never adopted Rice's temperament. It appears he did.
Rice's sideline meltdown in this video looks an awful lot like one of Owens' tantrums. It's bizarre enough to see Rice, one of the league's all-time class acts, call out a coach like this. But to see Owens actually trying to calm him down ... is it Opposite Day?

Er, if you have been a Niner fan long enough, you will know that Jerry Rice has always been known to get frustrated whenever he perceives he is not a part of the game plan. That has always been the case, so I don't know exactly what your posting this clip is supposed to prove. The difference between Rice's tantrums and Owen's tantrums is that Rice never fought with teammates and was never disruptive in the locker room. He was never selfish and would willingly give up his stats for a victory. I can't say the same about Owens.
