Stephon Marbury's brain is a wonderful place, as Sir Mutoni opined via e-mail this morning. Between calling out the Greatest Of All-Time, inciting the Lord's name upon hearing about the Zach Randolph trade, his Tracy Jordanesque performance on Mike'd Up... far more entertaining than the Knicks as an entity.Add another one to the file, from Marc Berman at the New York Post:
Stephon Marbury made a shocking revelation yesterday, saying that when his contract expires with the Knicks in two years, he's planning to play in Italy. [...] "I'm not just thinking of doing it, I'm going to do it," Marbury vowed yesterday. "My wife loved it there. It's like a [David] Beckham thing."(Unless Virtus Bologna is going to pay Starbury $50 million a season... then it's not really like Becks. At all. Sorry, Steph.)
Of course, maybe Starbury will have a friend in Lega A -- Ron Artest became infatuated with playing in Europe last spring... when he found out all the countries were connected by land.

Ha, thanks for making my morning fanhouse. That's worth enough laughs to get me through the day. If any Italian teams are looking for an overrated clubhouse cancer who even fools some of the fans, Stephon is a prime candidate and ready for the job.
Come join me and others at RootZoo for great sports talk and lots more. Check it out, you'll love it. I do.

We've seen loads of euro stars try to make it in the NBA. It'd be fascinating to see a good NBA player try to make it in Europe (c'mon, Marbury has been overrated for most of his career, but it'd be unfair not to acknowledge that he played really well for a few stretches last season)

He wouldn't be the first or the best NBA veteran that comes to play in Italy (or europe), for th first category he ranks something like 300th, while in the second (best NBA players coming to Europe) he sure enters the top 50...
Anyway, Italy is a very nice country and some 30 million people comes from all over the world to visit it every year, including the odd NBA star...it is quite natural that some hundreds of these million people thinks about relocating to Italy, including basketball players. Add an high-level league (used to be the best, but no more) where you can earn more than USD 1Mln to play once (max twice) a week in front of 6/12 thousand people with championship road trips that are less than the average NBA home/arena mileage...Add bonuses like a free mansion in a safe environment (our crime-infested neighbourhoods are safer than your average suburb) and the like... there you go with bunches of american basketball players living and working (i.e. playing) in Italy.
:)
Nothing strange!

This guy is going nowhere! I call his bluff! If anyone can't see this, it is just a huge publicity stunt. He has a lot going for him with his Starbury shoes, and now he wants to keep his name in the media, raise his value a bit. It's a wise move, but basketball fans, I would bet against the spread on this one. Check me at www.clutch3.com

There are players in the NBA who can play this game
and realize they can and will be an impact because of
what they can do for the team, but if the player don't
step up to the plate and be a LEADER and direct the
team to it's potential then what's the point in after
all this time either the coach or management under-
standing it's time for a change. that change should
be the inevetable. get RID od Marbury, simple as that
