Emmitt Smith on Federal Investigators: They're Putting the Squeeze on Michael Vick

Are federal investigators putting the squeeze on Falcons quarterback Michael Vick because he's a popular figure? All-time rushing leader Emmitt Smith thinks so.

"He's the biggest fish in the whole doggone pond right now so they're putting the squeeze on him to get to everyone else," Smith said Saturday.
I may be a bit off, but when the FBI tries to take down a drug ring, I don't think they do so by zeroing in on the street salesman. They do so by chopping the head off; by going after the "biggest fish."

"Now, granted he might have been to a dogfight a time or two, maybe five times, maybe 20 times, may have bet some money, but he's not the one you're after. He's not the one you're after, he's just the one whose going to take the fall -- publicly," Smith added.
I am really have a hard time following Smith's logic. He's always come across as a very intelligent man, but he's way off here. Vick isn't taking the fall because he's in the spotlight or because the feds trying to get someone else; he's taking the fall because he took part in extremely brutal and illegal dog fighting activities.

And what do Smith's comment say about the other three people indicted? They are all facing the same charges and those three are not nearly as popular or well known as Vick. There is no excuse for what these people did. It was sick and inhumane. Popular or not, they should all be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
