If you're a regular reader of the rumor pages, then you know that Chris Webber (despite being a shell of the player he once was) is a wanted man this summer. According to C-Webb, if he doesn't go back to Motown, his next likeliest destination is Dallas.Mavs officials said they continue to pursue Chris Webber, and Webber confirmed to Slam Magazine on Thursday that he still has the Mavs on his mind. From SLAM:
"I don't know, Webber said when asked about re-signing with the Pistons. "I would love to. Right now I'm thinking about Detroit and Dallas, so you never know."I love it when former superstars -- like Karl Malone, Gary Payton, and Alonzo Mourning, just to name a few -- fail to win a title as the main guy, and then try to latch on to a powerhouse team in a desperate attempt to get a ring before calling it quits. Wait, no I don't.

1. I'd have to question Dallas' front office if they did this. What Webber brings, shooting and passing are not Dallas weaknesses. They just need one cold blooded type and one enforcer. I really like the Van Exel years. Shame Oakley retired and the NBA went all skirt.

i totally agree... unfortunately, people here in dallas don't seem to get that. losing van exel was a big, big mistake, and people here still refuse to admit it.
i advocated acquiring iverson when he was available for the same reason, but the team chemistry looked unbeatable to untrained eyes... the team lacks killer instinct, and Iverson has serial killer instinct.

3. Does it matter where Chris Webber goes? Where ever he goes, there will not be a ring there. Ask Philly,Detroit, Sacramento, U of M or any where he has ever played. How do you spell loser? "Webber"

4. The NBA is a bizarre world...prima donna athletes who need tens of millions of dollars to "take care of their families" and wannabe-jock owners who spend money frivolously...guess the dot.com owners and cable companies came by money easily enough...Stern's revenue sharing is ass-backwards when players can decide they no longer want to play for the team paying them mega-millions and be bought out(see steve francis chris webber glenn "truck" robinson)...the NBA has become like wrestling...and with the referee issue...basketball used ti be a no-contact sport...have contact, and a foul is called...now it has strange rules...touch fouls are called twenty feet away from the basket, yet within ten fee, mauling and mugging is the standard...there is no consistency in the way games are reffed and no consistency in the manner in which fouls are called...perhaps it is time to go back to "real" basketball, and thn the viewing public will not be tortured with championship games in which teams struggle to score 70 points...maybe it is time for contracts to be limited to a maximun of three years with performance bonuses...maybe the contracts should not be guaranteed, but be conditioned on making the team each year...maybe it is time for teams to draft and select players based on skill rather than "potential"...maybe it is time for fans to turn-off the NBA television games...hm, based on the championship ratings, perhaps the fans have gotten the message that thet NBA/USA game is the inferior product in the worldwide arena international play anymore...maybe it i

5. To Gamecock Bob you must be a loser for leaving such a childish comment. The fact is the majority of proffessional athletes won't win a title. It's a team sport and injuries make a players success more difficult. Chris was the heart and soul of the kings he made everyone on that team better the team has been terrible without him. His major knee injury has changed his game a lot but like all of us with a dream he keeps trying thats why he's not a loser. He may fall down but he gets back up, even when negative people criticise him. Why do people who are not pro athletes care about the decisions they make regarding their careers? It's not your business. Worry about your own job and how your coworkers view you. Winning a title is about many things skill, luck, health, coaching, and officiating. One player other the maybe Michael Jordan will not win you anything. When Tim Duncan has played poorly in playoff games his teammates picked up the slack. How many superstars can thank Robert Horry for making big shots at the end of close games to win their rings. Then you have guys like T-Mac, K-G and Vince Carter who are great players who haven't even been in that many playoff games let alone get near a title so it's a team sport. Some of you so called fans need to watch the games instead of talking trash about people without all the information.
