Garnett Deal 'Essentially Completed'

Well, after twenty-four hours of encouraging signs, it appears that Kevin Garnett is a Celtic. The Boston Herald is reporting that the deal is "essentially completed."

From the paper's NBA blog:
One involved source said the final package will have the Celts sending Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff and a No. 1 pick to Minnesota to acquire Garnett.
They're also saying that there's an extension involved, which was one of last obstacles:
It appears now that the perennial All-Star is willing to forego the opt-out in his current deal for next summer and cast his lot with Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and the Celtics.

Update 1: The Boston Globe is now reporting that Jefferson is out of the deal. Supposedly, it's now for "Gerald Green, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff, and two first-round picks."

Update 2: SPORTS in BOSTON brings word that Garnett's likeness has been removed from the official T-Wolves site.

Update 3: Shira Springer, who posted on The Globe about the Jefferson-less trade, is now saying that Big Al is back in. However, she's also telling us that there's "not [sic] timetable on when deal [sic] would be finalized."

Update 4: Via I Heart KG: Ainge has confirmed to the Pioneer Press that the two teams are talking.

Update 5: FOX Sports reporting that McHale initially wanted Rondo, but Ainge refused.

Update 6: Celtics Blog has crashed from all the traffic.

Update 7: From the Herald: A Celtics official has told the AP that it's a wrap. Jefferson included.
