Well, after twenty-four hours of encouraging signs, it appears that Kevin Garnett is a Celtic. The Boston Herald is reporting that the deal is "essentially completed." From the paper's NBA blog:
One involved source said the final package will have the Celts sending Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff and a No. 1 pick to Minnesota to acquire Garnett. They're also saying that there's an extension involved, which was one of last obstacles:
It appears now that the perennial All-Star is willing to forego the opt-out in his current deal for next summer and cast his lot with Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and the Celtics.Stay tuned for more coverage.

3. As a Celtic Fan for the past 45 years - I can honestly say that the past 20 years have been depressing.
I am tired of the rebuilding and waiting for the kids to get better.
WelecomE KG - With you Paul and Ray we are headed to where the Celtics should be - the Finals.
I am one Celtic Fan who is tired of waiting for the Kids and their Potential

4. If that's the deal, the price is too high. Jefferson, Telfair, Green and Ratliffe for Garnett is a good deal for both sides. Adding Gomes AND a #1 pick is just too damn much. But nobody has ever accused Danny Ainge of being a smart GM.

11. Seems like a lot for the Celtics to give up, but this would make the draft day trade for Ray Allen all okay. Yes, the Celts would need a legit point guard (although they already need one right now), but damn. Pierce + Allen + KG...that's pretty sick. That's a lot of scoring from anywhere on the court.

12. But you do not get rid of jefferson, KG is old and jefferson is young, who are they going to play. I guess ainge think he can throw on his tighty whities from yester year and be the point guard, what a damn fool

13. Celtic got better and is now a playoff team, but they are missing some key pieces. Mainly a strong power forward and a decent point guard.
Look on the bright side, KG is now reunited with Michael Olowakandi, can a title be far way?

14. Sucks to loose KG as he is a stud, on and OFF the court! Pro sports desperately needs more athletes lime KG and LaDanian Tomlinson in this world. Hate to see you go, but best of luck my man!
