Last night, we told you the underground rumor mill was buzzing with renewed 'Kevin Garnett's going to Boston' palaver. Vindication has arrived, it seems, because every single mainstream source is now confirming the end (or beginning, if you're a Celtics fan) is nigh.FoxSports' Jeff Goodman was the first traditional media man to pick up the rumors. ESPN.com's Marc Stein followed with three sources of his own. Both say the phoenix of this deal was the jolt of reality Garnett felt when all that serious trade talk went down around Draft Day. Maybe he felt hurt, maybe he realized his loyalty was ridiculous in this business. Whatever, it seems like he changed his mind about Massachusetts.
While the next hours or days shall exist in ridiculousness while would-be Sherlocks stake out Logan and amateur masterminds abuse the poor trade machine, let us take a moment to reflect: A blogger, Jeff Clark from CelticsBlog, broke these rumors before anyone else. I do not define myself as a blog imperialist, but it's a nice revelation to arm yourself with the next time Sam Smith flaps his yapper.

1. Garnett, Allen and Pierce? Does Danny Ainge think he's building a roster for NBA Live '01?

2. They won't win the title, but count me among those in favor of this deal. Trading for just Garnett would have made no sense, but if you're going to blow up the youth movement, at least there are three legitimate stars on this team now. I'm figuring on 50-plus wins, and a march to the Leastern Conference Finals.

3. I thought Garrnet said He would not play for Boston ? Did he change his mind? I do not see the problem with playing for one of the most storied franchise's in basketball they been bad for 20 or so years because of death on Lin Bias & Reggie Lewis all you younger one's out there did not know most likely Celtic's had some of the greatest teams ever 16 of the first what 30 0r 40 championships ?
a player will have to be pretty ignorant not to want to play and get Boston back to where they belong WINNING !!!!!!!!!!!!

4. KEN#### Boston hasn't won anything for so long many of you Celtic fans can't even spell winner. The Celtics have been dead for the last twenty years and have no prospect of getting better anytime soon. Len Bias is not the reason for the Celts demise either. What has really hurt is that no free agents want to play in Boston. Screw all that legacy crap the only thing that matters these days in getting paid and marketing to get paid. For many of us old enough to remember we all know what a racist town Boston was and still is therefore no Black NBA star wants to play for Boston. If I were KG I wouldn't want to be caught dead playing for the Celtics. That would be tatamount to career suicide.

5. @Jay: Thanks for that enlightened insight Jay, just like Ainge believes he's dealing for KG circa 2001, your ignorant comment reeks of dated hearsay...

6. The only reason that that racial sentiment persists is the "perception" in the black community of Boston as an inhospitable place for blacks, a "perception" that is based on dated, historical events, rather than the current climate in the city.
On another note, the Celts poor performance in the past 20 years has nothing to do with race, but rather reflects the confluence of aging talent, personal tragedy and tremendous mismanagement among the franchise elites.

7. Wow...extremely well said, John.
The Celtics have "no prospect at getting any better." You don't really believe that, right? They'll have the best "top 3" in the Eastern Conference hands down with KG in the mix. And how is Boston any more racist than any other city? And career suicide? Take it easy on the hyperbole.
