Handicapping the Hottest Female Athletes, Round 2: Down Goes Stokke!

The first round is over, the dust has cleared, and the second round matchups have been released: the AOL Sports Hottest Female Athlete Bracket rolls on. (If you'd prefer a Hot Male Athlete Bracket, please head here.) As my counterpart Stephanie Stradley says, fear not -- at least you're not surfing porn right now! 100 points for you!

Anyway, a look back at the first round is in order. Off we go:

The Surprises: In a move that both saddens me and reassures me that the apocalypse is at least a few years off, barely legal sensation Allison Stokke -- whose parents would probably prefer you weren't oogling their daughter, unless it's in the Washington Post -- suffered a close defeat at the hands of golfer Paula Creamer. (In handicapping the first round, our man Larry Brown picked Stokke to win it all. That'll hurt in the office pool.) Those 8-9 seeds are always tough to pick, huh? Other surprises: Lindsay Kildow sneaking past Candice Parker in the 7-10; Sue Bird dropping out in the 5-12 to Swin Cash.

The Stalwarts: In the widest margin (88%-12%) of the first round, No. 2 seed Natalie Gulbis murdered Kristi Leskinen, and in the second widest (84%-16%), No. 1 seed Amanda Beard dominated curler Cassie Johnson. Posing for Playboy has a way of increasing one's ... exposure. (Rimshot!) The other top seeds also advanced, though Danica Patrick faced a surprisingly close first-round margin (59%-41%) from golfer Erica Blasberg. A harbinger of future trouble for Patrick, or will the F-1 racing star regroup and dominate until the semifinals? (Easy segue alert ...)
The Second Round: Speaking of Patrick, Round 2 should be no problem (sorry, Natalie Coughlin), but No. 3 seed Erica Hosseini now lurks as the favorite to emerge from that half of the bracket. Would you prefer a oil-greasy Danica or a lotion-greasy surfer Hosseini? The Beach Boys had it right -- Hosseini's the one to beat here.

On the other side of the bracket, look for top-seeded Maria Sharapova to keep moving on, if by sheer force of her grunting ability; heads up for USA softball's gorgeous Jennie Finch. Both are hot, and both are overrated -- something's gotta give. One remaining sleeper: Ashley Force. Sorry, but there's more than enough room at the IRL hotness table; Force just might be looker enough to squeeze the far more famous Danica out of the picture.

That's it for the second round; make sure to make your vote count at AOL Sports. Time for a cold shower.
