Vince Young Punches Teammate in the Helmet With His Throwing Hand

Remember those stories about Vince Young's score on the Wonderlic test? Young supposedly got a stunningly low score on the intelligence test at the NFL's scouting combine, but in his rookie season he looked smart and savvy and showed no signs that he can't figure out the mental part of the game.

But at Titans practice Wednesday, Young did something really stupid: He punched teammate Donnie Nickey. In the helmet. With his throwing hand.

Nickey, a backup safety, delivered some rough hits on Titans receivers, and that caused Young to get in his face, and when Nickey put his hand on Young's chest, Young responded by swinging, glancing a punch with his throwing hand off Nickey's helmet. Titans coach Jeff Fisher said this:
"My preference is not to see my quarterback throwing punches with his throwing hand. Secondly, we need to avoid the stuff on the field, and hey, it happens. Everything is OK."
That's a valuable lesson. Avoid that stuff on the field, but if it does happen, a quarterback shouldn't throw a punch with his throwing hand.

UPDATE: Here's video of the incident, as it appeared on Channel 5 in Nashville:
