Remember those stories about Vince Young's score on the Wonderlic test? Young supposedly got a stunningly low score on the intelligence test at the NFL's scouting combine, but in his rookie season he looked smart and savvy and showed no signs that he can't figure out the mental part of the game. But at Titans practice Wednesday, Young did something really stupid: He punched teammate Donnie Nickey. In the helmet. With his throwing hand.
Nickey, a backup safety, delivered some rough hits on Titans receivers, and that caused Young to get in his face, and when Nickey put his hand on Young's chest, Young responded by swinging, glancing a punch with his throwing hand off Nickey's helmet. Titans coach Jeff Fisher said this:
"My preference is not to see my quarterback throwing punches with his throwing hand. Secondly, we need to avoid the stuff on the field, and hey, it happens. Everything is OK."That's a valuable lesson. Avoid that stuff on the field, but if it does happen, a quarterback shouldn't throw a punch with his throwing hand.
UPDATE: Here's video of the incident, as it appeared on Channel 5 in Nashville:

1) he's smart enough to have started a scrap when several of his teammates were closeby to break it up before he got whipped.
2} yet not quite smart enough to hit a mans helmet wwith his fist.
3) Wonderlic

CDB,
Do you and your co-workers hit each other for a living? Didn't think so.
This is the second training camp incident Nickey's been involved in. Perhaps it is time to cut that tackling dummy. He seems to have issues with his teammates.

His move wasn't the brightest in the world, but CDB, are you serious?
Just go ahead and say that you don't like Vince Young! Are you really that desperate to find a reason why he should be fired? Because he punched a teammate on the helmet at practice?
Yeah, at a regular job you would get fired. These guys are on a football field. What an idiot! So now this guy is a "thug who thinks he can do what he wants"!!!
YOU PEOPLE are so funny sometimes!

MDS,
Footage was on the 4-letter network last night. It was more than just some "rough hits". I forgot the name of the safety, but he gave the WR a dirty hit... basically tackled the guy up high and even looked like he pulled the next back.
CDB,
Well, they do get to block, tackle, stiff arm, and power through their co-workers also... so I don't see what the point is. Maybe you can stop watching sports (save soccer)... as a punch was bound to happen if this was baseball, football, or hockey.

Hey CDB your a moron. It's football not accounting. Sometimes things get heated in practice. Especially heated in training camp where some players days are numbered and they know they'll be going home soon. Players will do anything to get a coaches attention, including bashing the living hell out of WR's that Are going to make the team. That has consequences! Such as catching a punch from the 6 feet 5 inch 240lb starting qb. Marino, Elway, Manning, they all felt the same way at some point early in their career but they probably asked someone else to take care of that guy instead of doing it themselves.
V.Y. rocks! Damn the Wonderlic to hell.

1) The Wonderlic is meaningless. Ryan Fitzpatrick got a perfect score on it, but I didn't see him making the Pro Bowl as an alternate hi ROOKIE SEASON.
2) You cats can keep trashing Vince, because he's going to be dominating your defenses for the next decade.
at CDB,
If you had any significant physical skills to offer the world, you might get a way with it too. But, alas, there are millions of people who can file TPS reports.

I'm going to guess that CDB is a middle aged white man. He gave himself away with the use of "thug"

just goes to show, once again, that vy is a leader. however, slapping the guy in the helmet with his throwing hand was not smart, but he is young and hot tempered. remember, this guy is 24 and in his 2nd season. he will age like a fine wine. mickey is known as a trouble maker and i firmly believe vy will not tolerate that as a leader. he'll learn how to handle physical situations with his teammates responsibly and i guarantee this will never happen again on account he is the kind of kid that learns from his mistakes.

It was nothing less than a hate crime. Nickey is white and if he wasn't Vince would not have thrown the punch.

Do you think Drew Brees or Peyton Manning would act like that? Physical talent is all Vince Young has.
I bet he is related to Michael Vick.

He does need to act like a team leader as someone else suggests. I can see being competitive and getting in someone's face who is not playing hard but this is not being a leader.

What's everyone so worried about? A QB that can't throw accurately hit someone with his throwing hand. What, will his accuracy drop below 50 now? I'll be laughing when this Vince Young bandwagon crashes into the ditch.

Here's the deal..he's got precious few receivers as it is..he doesn't need some 3rd string/special teams safety clotheslining one of them.

Kevin,
Let's not forget. Peyton is hardly perfect. I haven't heard of VY sticking his testicles in some woman's face or I hadn't heard him throw his linemen and kicer under the bus, either.

I can't believe some of you idiots!
Did you even see the DIRTY hit the 5th-string safety made on one of the FEW DECENT receivers on HIS OWN TEAM!!!
That safety needed his ASS WHIPPED! And some of you guys have the nerve to try to call out Vince?!?!?!? That safety probably has no place on the team.
Again, some of you people are so funny!
Especially YOU, kevin, trying to compare Vince Young with Michael Vick, becuase he slapped someone in the front of the helmet who deserved WORSE!
