No Use for the Charade: Darren McFadden NFL Bound After '07

The news is a no-brainer, really, but I'm sure most Razorback fans and coach Houston Nutt aren't happy to hear it well before the start of the 2007 season.
The mother of junior Arkansas running back Darren McFadden told ESPN.com on Friday night that her son will play his last season of college football this fall before turning pro.

"He told me [Friday], 'Mom, I'll be through in December,'" Mini Muhammed said. "I said, 'What you mean?' He said, 'I'll be through.' That's what he told me."

Asked if that meant her son would be entering the draft and joining the NFL, Muhammed said, "Yeah. He'll be making big money."
McFadden is basically in the same position as Adrian Peterson last year as the college game's pre-eminent, NFL-ready back. In Peterson's case, he appears to have struggled with the decision. No such trouble for McFadden, however. I don't think Peterson anticipated dropping down to seventh in the draft, but them's the breaks and hopefully McFadden can earn a draft spot to his liking next April.

Of some comfort for Razorback fans, fellow junior tailback Felix Jones is a fantastic back himself. His senior year could be special assuming he decides on returning after this season.
