Tracy McGrady is generally known as one of the league's good guys, not to mention one of its most likable. He has two children by his longtime girlfriend, whom he married this past September. So it's a little surprising to learn that he's in court over child support payments over another woman's baby. And this wasn't some early-career indiscretion--the kid was born in 2005. From the Herald Tribune:
Attorneys for Pearl Vega, 35, say McGrady should pay child support for their daughter in line with his NBA lifestyle and $21.6 million annual income. We're not going to find out much more than that, though. Both sides want the trial conducted in secret and the records sealed, for the sake of the child and because of "possible trade secrets buried in McGrady's endorsement contracts." Huh?
McGrady's attorneys say in court records that the claim is more about the mother's "desire for a high lifestyle rather than any reasonable needs of a minor child."
Attempts to settle the dispute have failed.
