Former heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman is not one of those boxing guys who attack UFC and make themselves look like horse-and-buggy manufacturers insisting that the motorcar is a passing fad. In fact, Foreman had this to say in an interview with Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports: "I love the UFC. I love it," Foreman said. "If they had had that back when I was coming up, in 1966, it would have been my sport. Man, I love it. And you know what? Nobody would have pulled the rope-a-dope on me."Foreman thinks highly of the 44-year-old UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture, who's defending his title a week from today at UFC 74. But Couture would have to hold his belt for a couple more years to match Foreman's longevity.

Hey buddy "one of those Boxing guys who attack UFC" how about the UFC guys who attack Boxing, it's been going on like that for years, hell the head of the entire organization has been ripping boxing for years(Dana White). Turn on any UFC broadcast and I'l you'll hear veiled shots at Boxing every time(Rogaine). Remember MMA is a new thing, it wants what Boxing has had for all these years, they're the one's coming for what Boxing has, remember that. I've watched UFC since the beginning(early 90's) and it wasn't until around 2001 when White took over that I had to deal with some of the more ignorant and arrogant UFC fans who anytime Boxing was brought up I had to hear stuff like "UFC this" UFC that" Maybe it has something to do with the beer drinking rock listening white dudes who like Matt Hughes and Chuck Liddell and hate anything that isn't just like them. I also love it that the black man is about to take over that sport, and when it does I'll bet they'll be a backlash from the majority white american fans. Actually there already is, watch how many UFC fans want Dan Henderson to kick Rampage's @#$, just like they wanted Chuck to. They can't stand how Rampage is flashy and cocky and talks s@#t and money. Don't worry you have those pathetic TUF fighters who i don't understand where they pulled these guys from, because 85% of them are garbage. It;s like he pulled them because of their image or attitude and not if they could actually fight. Frank Shamrock said it best when he said you shouldn't need to fight in the UFC to be something, the next MMA fighter is out there fighting, not on some lame TV show. UFC has some decent fighters but many of them are a lot of fluff and no substance, White saved his talent pool by buying out Pride but once these other organizations start building up their own talent, you can kiss the UFC monopoly goodbye and say hello to some of the same problems that Boxing has faced over the years with different organizations. Also let's not even get on fighter's salaries, what a joke White in 10 years will be far worse then Don King ever was, he might be now all the money he's raking in while paying his fighters peanuts, but hey if the fighters are dumb enough to keep fighting for that then fine, better for us fans...Oh Steroids?? Hmm read the article with California athletic commissioner where he said that 90% of the illegal substance positives are MMA fighters. Thats straight from the horses mouth, and that's not even Nevada where most of the fights are, sure Boxing has some illegal substances but most of the athletes are just that, superior athletes, not a bunch of juiced up white boys(with an occasional Brazilian, Franca) that need the edge because they can't do it naturally. I have friends who fight in MMA and this stuff is widespread, Bob Arum is saying NOTHING that is not true, MMA fans just can't take a little criticism where as Boxing fans have been taking criticism for a LONG time. Welcome to the fight game people....Royce Gracie the Jordan of MMA, positive, Sean Sherk a guy who talked all kinds of crap about Floyd Mayweather Jr about how he would whoop Floyd, positive, and that's just the more recent one's, at least Mayweather is all natural and doesn't need to cheat to be at the top of his game and a champion, what's your excuse Shreck?, what a clown and a disgrace to any MMA fan. I like both sports but the arrogance my friend is far worse on MMA's side, mainly UFC, that organization is not as squeky clean as people think, starting at the top..I'm tired of the one sided arguments and nobody exposing the truth.

I'll be honest, I've seen maybe four or five fights on TV. Cant remember which alphbet soup organization was running it. Its actually hilarious to hear some of the people defending the "sport". Basically my gripe is that fans say how "BAD" they are..how dangerous they are compared to boxing or other physical sports. What I see is another sport that has to put limits on their "fights" because a true martial artist would be able to neutralize any opponent. Of course that would mean some are hurt with broken limbs and all. I would rather watch full contact karate with padding and no killing blows, than two guys grappling on the floor or against the fence.

Once again racist rantings...can't help but laugh. I follow all the MMA guys, regardless of color or country of origin. I don't really care who wins, just show me the action.
I like both sports but MMA blows boxing away. If I wanted to watch dancing I would tune in to Dancing With The Stars.

Wilfredo's racist rantings aside, I don't know which UFC show you watched that had all kinds of shots at boxing. Dana has many times said that he is a boxing fan and thinks both can be successful.
It is undeniable that there has been a rash of positive tests as of late, but Sherk is in the process of contesting his.
The one thing that he correctly mentioned is that UFC are still behind in the amount they pay their fighters.
S321, just say that you hate the grappling aspect. That's fine but history has shown that any guy who is not well-rounded will get his butt handed to him.

I don't know what the fuss is all about with this. Both sports can survive, but for my money boxing is what I like to watch. Right now boxing is in a slump, but when new stars arise it will blow away UFC into the dust. There is a new crop of heavyweights coming up that on their worse day could blow away any of the UFC fighters. UFC fighters are so green and sloppy it only appeals to the untrained eye. Its sad. Watch Klitchko, Samuel Peter, Arreola, David Rodriguez, Chazz witherspoon and you will see a different level of atheltes skill and true warriors. Why don't they call out Klitchko? I'll tell you why, thats a terrible risk and they would be put on a stretcher.UFC has a huge marketing machine behind them and its working. If you tell a lie big enough and long enough people will believe it. Smoke and mirrors.

dana white is a former amateur boxer and It doesn't take a genius to see which sport is more exciting to watch. Would you rather watch oscar de la hoya and floyd mayweather dance around the ring or rampage and liddell fight?? It's a no brainer. Never-mind the business side of things, from a fans perspective the UFC is better than boxing ten fold for two reasons. 1. The fights, for the most part, are much more exciting. 2. Because of the "monopoly" the UFC has, we the fans, get to see the best fighters in each division fighting. None of the business bs that takes place in boxing.

like sean said, Dana White was a former amateur boxer and is still a fan of the sport. the only aspects that he doesn't like are the promoters and the politics in the sport. Joe Rogan has never said anything about boxing since he's been comentating. also there are no true stars in boxing. they also only have boxing matches on HBO or pay per view. UFC has got fights on cable tv and pay per view. thats why the sport is gaining in popularity over boxing. even Foreman loves the UFC

MMA is a NEW thing???? lololololol!!!! MMA is the OLDEST!!!! When "martial science" was "created" - it was way back BEFORE gunpowder, etc.... fighting was a matter of survival & anything goes. MMA is only being "rediscovered" in the 21st century. That GAME of boxing [which is only a PIECE of MMA training] is older than MMA????? You are ignorant. Think before you speak & sound stupid next time my friend.
