Although Michael Vick's lawyer says he plans to show remorse and make amends after he pleads guilty to federal conspiracy charges Monday, his mother, Brenda Vick Boddie, doesn't seem to think her son has anything to be remorseful for:
It's not a surprise that a mother whose son is facing prison would react that way, but the way she tries to deny the crimes her son committed may actually hurt Vick. His only chance of ever getting back into the NFL is to show sincere remorse, and if the people around Vick continue to say things like "for what?" and "he is not a criminal," it will be hard for anyone to believe that Vick is sorry for what he's done."I gotta be strong for him," Brenda Vick sobbed, standing outside the handsome brick mansion her son bought for her in Suffolk, Va. "It is tough on everybody. They are trying to put my baby in jail, and for what?"
"Everybody makes mistakes," she continued, only hours after her son filed his guilty plea Friday. "Everybody deserves a second chance. He has given his life over to God. He is not a criminal . . . He's a good person. He has a big heart, and it just hurts."

Miz Brenda, IF, he has given his life to God, he would not have done this heinous crime. He is not a little boy anymore, he has to grow up and be accountable for his crimes.

2. It was only a matter of time before this was said....."He has given his life over to God"...How convenient for him. What a bunch of crap....

3. I never had one bit of sympathy for Michael Vick until I read the interviews with his dad in the ATLANTA JOURNAL CONSTITUTION and the WASHINGTON POST and now this interview with his mother. Nothing can excuse what Vick did, but his parents, in their own words, make clear that his parents failed in their responsibility to teach him the difference between right and wrong because they do not recognize the distinction themselves. How sad!!

5. When exactly did he give his life to God?PLease give me a break BUT not Vick.He deserves everything he will get.Remember he wet his dogs and threw them into a electric fence when they didn't win the dog fight and were hurt and in pain.Poor dogs not poor Vick. Can't wait untill he goes to the slammer.Let him start reading the bible when he gets in there like all the other jail bates!!!!

6. She's afraid she'll lose her house since the Falcons want their money back. Lady, if you had taught your kid well, he would not hurt dogs as entertainment. He deserves to go to jail and he's already lucky enough that he won't go that long.

7. pick, pick, pick haven't you people picked enough, I agree with Michael Vick's mom....I also believe the public and press has crucified Mr. Vick enough..many people these days put more value on an animal's life than that of a human's life.I think it's time to back off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8. WHY IS IT THAT PEOPLE FIND GOD ONLY AFTER THEY'VE BEEN CAUGHT DOING SOMTHING WRONG?? VICK BROKE THE LAW AND HE HAS TO PAY FOR HIS CRIMES....I HOPE HE NEVER GETS BACK IN THE NFL, WHAT A TERRIBLE ROLE MODEL HE TURNED OUT TO BE......

9. When you surround yourself by stupid people who can not understand that pleading out makes him a criminal then he never had a chance! Michael Vick fought, tortured and killed these dogs and that is indisputable. That in itself is a felony and that alone makes him a criminal. Those around Mike need to start understanding that concept and stop making excuses for his behavior! He understands what he has done and now will face the retribution by the legal system and the NFL. His career as a football player is now over with and that is a shame. Hopefully, Marcus Vick will learn from his big brothers failure and not follow in his footsteps.

10. Maybe this story wouldn't be "picked on" if Vicks momma, daddy, grandpa and all the rest of his friends/family would keep their stupid mouths shut!!! A classic exsample of open mouth insert foot. Michael Vick is 27 years old for christ sakes!!! He's not a child. He knew what he was doing was wrong. He made the choices that got him too this point in his life. Vick is a criminal, he is not a good person.

12. The Vick Family... What a great American role model family!! Give us all a break.. Marcus showed signs of even being a bigger trouble maker while in college! Michael's career should be OVER for good and then let's see how this "family" lives when the cash runs out!! Sounds like the whining parents never knew the meaning of right or wrong from the beginning.. Oh, and wait folks, we didn't get to the "it's the white people's fault" part of the crying going on... What a garbage story.. Va Tech should remove the Vick name from all the records! Good riddance from the public scene!

13. Michael Vicks mother should take his place in jail for the way he was raised. You do not have to love animals, but to treat them the way Vick did is so inhumane he deserves the same punishment he gave them.

15. all you people defending mike vick need to shut up. yes it was dogs and not people but it is still a crime. i almost guarantee those defending him were the same ones wanting to convict the DUKE LACROSSE team as soon as she said she was raped. and since those charges were dropped when is she going to be punished for her crimes!

19. Anyone who says that it "was just dogs' is just as ignorant and evil as Vick. Any person of any color who tortures and kils animals for "sport" or "entertainment" is an abomination in front of God. His Mom obviously taught him and Marcus zero morals for them both to turn out like they did. What a sad family that will probably never show remorse for their evil deeds. At least the Father and Grandfather admit that dogfighting is wrong.

20. Why is it when someone does something wrong the Parents are always labeled the ones who didnt teach their children right from wrong? I am so sick and tired of hearing well if the parents would've did this or that than the person would not have committed the crimes that he or she is accused of. First off let me say that my parents did treat us right from wrong. They wore our butts out when we got out of line. As an adult I know right from wrong and if I choose to do wrong its not my mom or dads fault its mines. Michael Vick's mother is doing what a mother is supposed to do and that is to support her child in right and wrong. As a mother myslef I will defend my children when they are right or wrong because they are my children. I can understand how his mom feels because thats her child and he has been convicted before he even has a trial by Jury. I agree what he did was wrong but over a DOg come on. People who kill other people get less time ,but because a Animal was involved people are calling for his head on a platter. I hope one day he does come back and play in the NFL and show everybody that yes I made a mistake but you cant bring me down.
