We've spent all off-season wondering who would be the Chiefs' starting quarterback, Damon Huard or Brodie Croyle, and we finally found out that it would be Huard. But that was before we found out that Byron Leftwich is available. Is it possible that the Chiefs could bring him in?
Arrowhead Addict thinks so, and Peter King does too. Leftwich wouldn't be able to beat Huard out for at least a month or so while he learns the Chiefs' offense and develops chemistry with the Chiefs' receivers, and he also wouldn't be viewed as the quarterback of the future, as the Chiefs' brass seems to like Croyle's long-term potential.
But if the Chiefs think they might find themselves looking up in mid-October and seeing that they're fighting for a playoff spot but not getting the kind of production out of Huard that they want, getting Leftwich now and having him ready by midseason could be the right move.

Byron could help the Chiefs get into the playoffs if he is hired by Kansas City. Other sources say Atlanta should look to hire him to appease the Falcon fans who won't have Michael Vick in town this season.

Leftwich would be an improvement over anyone currently in Chiefs camp. I do like Terrell's potential though, he has arguably been the most effective QB in camp.
I personally don't understand the infatuation with Croyle? Ghastly inconsistent with limited physical skills, except for a reasonably strong arm (which is irrelevant if inaccurate).
But honestly, they could bring in Marino,Elway and Unitas.....unless the line plays better...they are sunk!

croyle is not the chiefs answer at the q.b. position .. he needs to be sent down to the practice squad where he can get a whole lot of ..uumm.. practice !!! as far as leftwich is concerned ..the chiefs just released trent green because of health issues.. leftwich has missed almost a full season in the last 2 season because of injuries ..the guy is pretty good when he,s healthy because his main feature talent is when he doesnt have anyone open he will scrammble with the ball..just so happen it takes two healthy ankles to either throw or scrammble ..got rid of a q.b. who clearly helped us when alot of games but now has health concerns . why pick up a q.b. that is injury prone ? im hoping this is just one of those rumors and im sure it is.. i guess anytime a q.b. becomes available now someone will jump on a chiefs possibility . GO CHIEFS !

I was hoping the chiefs would keep Jeff Terrel, just heard he has been cut along with Casey Printers. He has been the most effective in the preseason.(Jeff Terrel that is)Printers has no business on a nfl roster!

This close to the regular season, Leftwich should be aiming for a second-string QB spot.
