The commenters at MGoBlog are having a field day, calling for the head of Michigan coach Lloyd Carr.
But would Michigan ever pull the trigger? If you ask our resident Wolverine Brian Cook, I gotta believe he'd vehemently say no. I'd say no, as well. But today's 34-32 home loss cannot help his cause in Ann Arbor.
Carr is expected to retire this season, but maybe a loss of this magnitude prompts a termination or early and unexpected resignation? Comment below with your thoughts.
Whatever your thoughts, this is simply one of the most stunning college football upsets in the last decade, if not the game's history.

They won't can him if he's already on his way out. His legacy is chiseled, though.

It's time for Carr to go. Can't beat OSU...can't compete nationally lost to USC (Carroll coached Carr's socks off)... gets talent but loses the big ones cause he can't adjust and lacks imagination ... now Appalachian State loss at home on opening day. He's gotta go!!!

Fire coach Carr? How many games did Michigan win last year? It just shows the arrogance of the Michigan program. At least nine of the other teams in the big ten would love to have coach Carr. I'm not a Michigan fan, but I'm not stupid either.

Ya, you're not a Michigan fan, which is why you don't understand. Michigan has more wins and a higher winning percentage than any other team in college football history. Michigan has the longest bowl streak of any team. Michigan has more conference championships than any team. Michigan wins. Lloyd doesn't. Can him. Kick him out. Do it now. We're done with this. We're better than this. Lloyd is done.

Remember John Cooper? All of you Michigan fans who thought OSU was SO wrong and unfair to fire Cooper, now you know what it really feels like to have winning seasons but losses that are too painful to endure year after year. By the way, I hear Cooper's available....

How many National Titles has Michigan won in the modern era? How many have they played for? Schembechler live through Carr. Big Ten football is driven by a closed minded Midwest media. Very overrated. The Big Ten has only won 2 relevant titles in the last 40 years, and 1 was a gift in 2002.

Will they? Who knows. Should they? You betcha. I just fired off an email to President Coleman at presoff@umich.edu and copied their Board of Regents members, the AD and Lloyd Carr . . . here it is and it says it all.
President Coleman,
As I sit here in disgust following the first football game of the season,I am compelled to write to you and ask you to please fire Lloyd Carr before the next football game.
Countless Michigan fans have been repeatedly disappointed by his lack of leadership, coaching abilities and decision-making.
Michigan's football players are some of the most talented in the nation. Michigan did not lose the game today, or the last bowl game, or repeatedly to Ohio State because they lack talent. Michigan continues to lose games they should not because Lloyd Carr is out-coached.
I am disappointed that Lloyd Carr's failure to be the coach Michigan deserves is something that continues year after year.
Succinctly, Lloyd Carr is a failure.
Can you even fathom how disappointed so many of us are? Please make Lloyd Carr's dismissal your first priority. He is a Michigan disgrace. For the first time in my whole life, I am considering turning my back because...as a fan...I have been let down by Lloyd Carr too many times. Please restore
Michigan football to glory by hiring a coach who can do the job the right way.

I don't know if Lloyd Carr should be fired at this point, since it wasn't done after last years ose Bowl game. He definitely should be relased after the end of this season. With all the talent Miuchigan has had over the years, the results should have been much better... It's been the same goal for Michigan over the years, win the Big Ten Championship!! Other teams like Ohio State, Notre Dame and etc. it's goals are a national championship. Another point, Michigan has always felt it could sit on a 4th quarter lead, and then the other team most always takes the lead, and Michigan can't play catchup and loses.... Hum, must have something to do with the coaching... I now live in Florida (formerly a lifetime Michigander)and come up to Ohio for a couple of months in the summer... At least the universties in Florida and Ohio play the entire game to win... Another thing, the last few years, I'm finding the Big Ten sports teams, especially football are over-rated....

As a loyal Michigan fan, I am truly shocked at today's effort. What kind of defensive scheme were we running? Have we ever heard of a bump and run defensive scheme with run support in the middle? They spread our defense across the field and are middle was exposed all day long. I believe that Lloyd's passion for the game is no longer there and it certainly showed today.

Carr should have stepped down after the Rose Bowl loss to Texas. I have never seen anyone with the talent and program power underacheive as terribly as Carr. Defensively this program has only been great because of the talent. Look at today's loss, burned once, twice, three times with no adjustments. Let's face it, if it weren't for last year's run the Maize and Blue Defense has been soft and been burned ridiculously for the last five years. The whole staff are nothing but dinosaurs in terms of football philosophy. Michigan should have pursued Les Miles when he was at Oklahoma State to replace Carr. I say fire Lloyd on Monday. The season is a complete loss now. Sure you can try to win the Big Ten, but let's be real. Lloyd has zero fire. His post game press conference was like he was talking about his grandson's little league game. For Michigan to have a man in power with so little ambition and fire is beyond embarassing. Lloyd needs to take his ho, hum BS to the shuffleboard circuit. Michigan is the embodiment of college football, when God said let there be football, he made the Michigan Wolverines. It's time to find someone new to restore the program.

I think UM should fire Carr. Doing so, will destroy their program. I despise UM football. It just attracts a bunch of rednecked hippies from downriver who never attended college. UM is a great school for academics, however.
Currently, they have a great football program. Carr's overall record 113-35. Many other Big 10 coaches would love to have such a record. For those of you, who just love UM and want to fire Carr, don't realize how much money he brings in for the school by going to the bowl games or whatever. He also has a great recruiting program. If he gets fired, many commits will go elsewhere.
But I am all for the firing of Carr. I can't wait for that day to come!!
