ESPNews, Pro Football Talk and PewterReport.com are reporting that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed linebacker Jeremiah Trotter. The addition of Trotter should make an immediate difference to the Bucs' defense, as he's a tough, smart player who won't take long to learn a new system. At the same time, the Tampa Bay system that coordinator Monte Kiffin runs is not a particularly good fit for Trotter. Middle linebackers in the Tampa 2 tend to be smaller and faster than the 262-pound Trotter, and he is more likely to be a situational player on short-yardage plays than an every-down linebacker.
Trotter's got a fancy official web site, but he really needs to update it now to get all the Eagles stuff off.

Jeremiah Trotter should give the Bucs under rated defense an immediate boost. The team has made improvements in all areas,QB, O-line, Backfield and receivers on offense. The defense may be getting older but there are still stars in key positions and Trotter will definitely help. Anytime you can add a key veteran player like this, immediately upgrades the rest of the team. This year Tampa Bay is underrated due to the poor season last year due to Gruden's insistence on starting a mediocre rookie QB. The year before they won the division and would have advanced in the play-offs if it weren't for a terrible call on a Bucs TD in the closing minutes of the game. In a few weeks everyone will begin to notice what Most of us in the Tampa Bay area already know.

Jeremiah Trotter will help the Buccaneers defense get better since he played for a winning team in Philadelphia and Monte Kiffin is a dynamite coach who gets the best out of his players.
