One of the marquee matchups this weekend is the Bears-Chargers game. Brian Urlacher has already expressed his feelings on "Lights Out" Merriman, and he's weighed in on LT pretending to abuse Tommie Harris in that Nike commercial.
And now, there's a question about who will be the the fastest player on the field Sunday afternoon. Conventional wisdom points to Bears returner Devin Hester, but Chargers special teams ace Karim Osgood ain't buying it: "He's fast," Kassim Osgood said of Hester. "Cro is faster."
That's 2006 first-round pick, cornerback Antonio Cromartie.
"I don't know," Cromartie said, laughing. "Nobody has really seen me go full speed. Look at our 40 times from his pro day and my pro day (in college) and mine was faster. But I'm not worried about who's faster. I just want to go out there and make plays."Fair enough. Hester probably isn't worried either, but that only extends to real live football because video games are a different story, apparently:
Hester reportedly lobbied the folks at EA Sports to get the maximum 100 speed rating in the Madden '08 video game – and succeeded, becoming the first player so rewarded. (Cromartie said he "got cheated" with a 94 rating, although another Chargers cornerback, Cletis Gordon, said, "I'm faster than Cro.")Amazingly, Hester was legitimately psyched to learn that he hit triple digits. Whatever, Madden 08 won't matter tomorrow when Hester returns his first punt. Especially if Cro catches him from behind.

Is either of these guys faster than Terence Newman, that is who is really cheated int he Madden Game. The guy runs down Randy Moss, in real life, yet the Game rates Moss with 98 speed and Newman only 96. Newman gives up two touchdowns in 2 years, yet in the game the guy has crappy coverage ability...That is the guy who is really cheated in the Madden Game...

Hester was great last year. Cromartie hasn't done anything yet. However, today Hester didn't want to even try to run a punt back. He waived his arms as fast as he could. Not to mention, he did nothing on offense. Of course, I didn't hear much from Cromartie either.
