Chris Brown Is Still Alive, and He Owns the Jags' Defense

Um, yeah, I thought the Jags were supposed to be good against the run. Apparently, somebody forgot to tell Titans running back Chris Brown. You know, the guy Tennessee tried to run out of town last year when Travis Henry and LenDale White carried the load (okay, when Henry carried the load ... but White was supposed to do more than take advantage of the free buffet).

Anyway, Brown went for 175 on the ground on 19 carries -- that's 9.2 yards per carry ... not too shabby -- including a 42-yard run. White, who somehow managed to squeeze into his uniform before the game (rumor has it his uni was painted on), also saw some action: he got the ball 18 times for 66 yards.

The good news for Tennessee is that if Jacksonville's defense is legit -- they've been stout against the run for a couple of years now -- then the running game should take some pressure off Vince Young. On the other hand, if the Jags' D isn't the unit we're used to seeing, it might be too early to announce Chris Brown is back to his 2004 form, when he rushed for over 1,000 yards.

Whatever, it's a good problem to have if you're Jeff Fisher. In addition to Brown's resurgence -- even if it's temporary -- is that the Titans also have White and this year's second-round pick, Chris Henry. And to think, this is a team that was a surprising 8-8 in '06, and lost Travis "Babymaker" Henry, and Adam "Makin' it Rain" Jones this off-season.
