I can't say it enough; Bill Belichick is an evil genius. Much of the talk heading into today's Pats-Jets game was what, exactly, Randy Moss might contribute in a newly defined role that would probably include fewer snaps. Yeah, forget all that noise Moss, who didn't see the field for one play during the preseason because he was nursing a sore hammy, went bonkers when it actually counted. Tom Brady threw to Moss nine times today, and all the former
Oh, and Jets cornerback Justin Miller might want to temper the NFL's fastest man talk. Because the 30-year-old Moss smoked him on a 33-yard gain late in the second quarter, four plays before Brady found Benjamin Watson for a touchdown that gave the Pats a 14-7 lead.
The Jets lose the opener, sure, but the good news is that it looks like Eric Mangini dropped a few pounds. So there's that, I guess.

I was skeptical when the Pats traded for Moss in the off-season but I can't believe how easy Moss and the rest of the Patriots made it look today.

Amazing...truly amazing. A message was sent today....no more stacking 8 in the box...no more dbs cheating up on the line...when Randy goes, you'd better have 2 people on him....and he'll still probably burn you.
This is going to free up so much underneath stuff that instead of looking for an open receiver like he's used to....he's now going to have to decide WHICH open receiver to throw to....
Career year coming up for Brady....and Moss is Moss....he never left...as a matter of fact, he just may have a career year as well.

Just picture this... weak Colts secondary (minus Jason David last years starting DB) trying to cover 3 elite Pats wide receivers and TE Ben Watson downfield...I don't think anybody in their right mind believes THAT can happen. This will be a fun year for Moss and Brady, but not for sellout Peyton Manning. The only Super Bowl action he'll see this year will be during the commercial-breaks. SELLOUT!!!

As a Pats fan, it was easy to be very happy with yesterday's win over the Jets. The Pats looked sensational. But the Jets are not the Chargers, Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, and Colts --all of whom the Pats play later this season. And they play the Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, and Colts on the road. Yes, the Pats have the ability to win it all. But they will have to earn it and you've got to think it is improbable for the Pats to win all these tough games. But it will be great football for sure.
