Not only did Tom Glavine win the 300th game of his career this year at the age of 41, but he's always had a fairly respectable year on the mound to boot. Glavine is 13-6 on the year and sports an alright 3.95 ERA. So, weighing all that, it looks like TG is planning on coming back next season. From the NY Post:
"I'm having as much fun as I've had in a long time, and that's a big factor for me,'' Glavine told The Post on Sunday night. "It's a fun team to come to the ballpark with every day. All the factors are there [to coming back].''More power to Glavine. If he's still preforming at a level where he's helping his team compete and having fun as well, why not come back? The Post surmises he could grab $12 million from the Mets next year. Which, you know, might factor into his decision a bit, too.

"My two criteria, once I got my 300th win, was, how do I continue to pitch and how do I feel physically?'' Glavine explained. "I think I've answered myself in terms of how I have continued to pitch. I feel good now, but with four starts left and the playoffs, I don't know exactly how I am going to feel [after the season].

Tom Glavine would be a welcome addition to the staff if he decides to play next year.
The players love his attitude and professionalism. He would also be a positive influence on the young Met pitchers coming up through theur system.

What makes anyone think Glavine wants to return to the Mets next season? He almost did not return in 2007, flirting with Atlanta. I think, if he pitches in 2008, it will be for the Braves, where his family is and where his wife wants to be.

Tom Glavine will pitch for one more season and it won't be in Atlanta. He will finish out his career in New York where he is adored and where he belongs!
