I'm sure you're all just SHOCKED by this report, right? After all, they say it takes a cheater to catch a cheater, right? And who would know the game-day tendencies of the Patriots than a former employee, particularly a former employee who was high up in the coaching staff. You know, like Jets head coach, Eric Mangini. The New York Daily News is now suggesting that Mangenius stole signals while he was a member of the Patriots coaching staff:But one source, who was with the Jets during the time Mangini was an assistant to Belichick in New England, is turned off by his self-righteous approach to video spying.I guess so much for that self-righteous approach by Mangini. He looks just as bad as Belichick now. And where was Mangini last year when the teams played the first three times? Same goes for any other player or coach criticizing Belichick. If they're going to complain, they better make sure they're not cheating in any form either."Here is the sad part," the ex-Jets source said. "When Mangini was defensive coordinator for the Patriots, they were doing it. It's like crying wolf. He was a part of that mess. Now he's on the opposite side. Now he's saying they can't do it. Wait a minute. You were part of that staff. He's on the same team. He didn't go and tell Bill, 'We can't do that.'"

Misleading title as well: there is no proof Mangini stole anything -- he might have been on the STAFF that stole, he might have KNOWN about the stealing and not said anything, but there is no proof he stole as well. Plus -- how STUPID is it to try and steal signals from someone who very liekly knows that you steal signals?
Quit being apologists a la the Vick apologists and man up that Belichick and the Pats cheated.

Wow. Everybody the Patriots beat is complaining; they lost only because the Patriots were cheating against them, too.
"Yeah, that's the ticket. We lost because the Patriots cheated. Yeah, they, like, learned all our signals and, like, we never figured out what was going on. Yeah, that's what happened. Yeah, like I knew all along something wasn't right. Yeah, that's the ticket. We woulda won if not for that. Yeah."
Give me a break.

Mangini was the DEFENSIVE coordinator; theoretically he would have been inclined to steal offensive plays. But NFL coaches and offensive coordinators communicate their signals via headset to the quarterback, where it is relayed in the huddle; there is no opportunity to steal signals. The Patriots were cheating other defenses. That has nothing to do with Mangini, and it's common sense if you think about it for a second, too.
Now, it's not hard to imagine that Mangini became aware of the practice while he was in New England, and he dimed out Belichick because he was offended that the Patriots would be so arrogant as to use that tactic against one of their own. Perhaps this has to do with his tense relationship with Belichick since he left the organization. Still, I don't see why that's a reason to deflect criticism from the Patriots' habits.
