The IndyCar Racing League is apparently dying too slow a death, so ... they're going to try and speed things up. For the "health of the series," they will now completely suck the life out of it by taking away the incentive to win races: In an effort to help its smaller to mid-level teams and possibly attract new ones, SPEEDtv.com has learned the Indy Racing League will implement a revenue-sharing plan in 2008 that pays guaranteed money to IRL regulars but race purses would be eliminated except for the Indianapolis 500.So every IRL regular team that commits to the full season gets paid the same, win, lose or anywhere in between?
This is, quite possibly, the stupidest idea I have ever heard ... racing with no incentive to win? Yeah ... that approach ought to secure the talent.
Hey, IRL drivers, c'mon over to NASCAR where wins finally mean something.

Wow that is insane....what's the point of racing then?
Hey I am no expert here but wouldn't that want to make ALL the star drivers come to NASCAR?
And wouldn't it also encourage teams like Andretti-Green to wanna leave and go to NASCAR?
Not sure what the cost difference is between running IRL teams and NASCAR teams...
but hey they would be winning more money or making more money jsut finishing.
So yeah I agree it is a faster death for IRL...
All the top 5 drivers will go to NASCAR and Danicka Patrick will start winning races....

Nascar already has racing with no incentive to win. It is called, "The Chase".

Or better yet, leave the rednecks behind and go race F1, where the world's best and brightest ply their trade.

So after all the drivers have left the IRL because of this, to see decent open wheel racing I'm going to have to get up at like 5am to watch F1? Granted I do this already, but man....that sucks.
Did they blow all their money by getting Gene Simmons to do that hideous 'I am Indy' song?
