Although John Clayton and Chris Mortensen of ESPN continue to stick to their story that Eli Manning suffered a separated shoulder, they've begun to backpedal on their assumption that he would miss at least one month. Both were forced to eat their words yesterday as Manning returned to practice, but stood firm on their report that he would not play tomorrow. However, that may also be subject to change. According to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, Manning and most of his teammates fully expect him to suit up against the Packers tomorrow.
"If he can play, he's going to do it," said Jared Lorenzen. "I've been talking to him, [saying] 'If you want any reps tell me. I'm not trying to cut you off from your reps or anything.' It was awesome. It was really good to see him out there."Giants' officials later added that they would be "shocked" if Manning didn't play.
In somewhat related and equally promising news, defensive end Osi Umenyiora, who was reported to be out for two months, was upgraded to probable on the teams injury report.

I think the disdain for Eli Manning and the Giants fog peoples emotions, especially sports writers, to think that the kid would take the day off rather than play in front of his home town crowd after a terrific game against the Cowboys is stupid.
If you where Eli wouldn’t you want to hear 80,000 people screaming your name?
Those two morons from ESPN did get their info from a Giant source! The hot dog vender in section 125!
Go Giants, Eli ‘s, here!

Dan, was a huge fan of yours on Giants 101, glad you are still doing the best reporting on the net. In your personal opinion do you think coughlin is playing mind games or is Eli actually going to play?

Raymond - I, personally, believe Eli is actually going to play. Just one of those feelings.
And thanks for the kudos.

I think Eli is great, but I think he lacks the never give up spirit that a great quarterback needs. Here is a poll asking if you think he does. Anyone can vote: http://www.apopularitycontest.com/display_poll.php?ID=6104

Maybe the Giants players in question were injured at the time of the Cowboys game and when they got their medical exams they must have felt better when they found that their injuries were not as serious as they thought and ESPN trying to get viewers made their injuries a bigger deal than it was.
