ESPN Was Wrong: Eli Manning Returns to Practice; May to Start Tomorrow

Although John Clayton and Chris Mortensen of ESPN continue to stick to their story that Eli Manning suffered a separated shoulder, they've begun to backpedal on their assumption that he would miss at least one month.

Both were forced to eat their words yesterday as Manning returned to practice, but stood firm on their report that he would not play tomorrow. However, that may also be subject to change. According to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, Manning and most of his teammates fully expect him to suit up against the Packers tomorrow.

"If he can play, he's going to do it," said Jared Lorenzen. "I've been talking to him, [saying] 'If you want any reps tell me. I'm not trying to cut you off from your reps or anything.' It was awesome. It was really good to see him out there."
Giants' officials later added that they would be "shocked" if Manning didn't play.

In somewhat related and equally promising news, defensive end Osi Umenyiora, who was reported to be out for two months, was upgraded to probable on the teams injury report.
