NationalLampoon.com, of all places, has gotten their hands on the video of the video of the Patriots cheating during last week's game against the Jets. Some choice nuggets:
- Guy with binoculars sitting next to Robert Kraft: "... the blitz is coming from the left so ... run to the right." (Laurence Maroney runs to the right for a first down.)
- Belichick: "Chicks love the long ball ... Rock and roll." (Randy Moss scores on 51-yard pass from Tom Brady.)
- Belichick: "Alright, defense, we're going after Pennington ... knock that grin off his face." (Jarvis Green sacks Pennington and the Jets QB is injured on the play.)
- Belichick: "That's game planning ... that's pure game planning." (After the dude with the binoculars tips Belichick to what the Jets are running, and the Pats' offense adjusts accordingly.)
- Belichick: "It's third down, we need to score."
Binoculars dude: "Alright, they're in man. They got two guys on Moss, two guys on Stallworth and ... a dude who can't tackle all alone on Wes Welker."
Belichick: "Wes Welker, get him the ball. WES WELKER ... GET HIM THE BALL. (Wes Welker gets the ball. Wes Welker scores.)
As part of his punishment, Belichick should've been forced to hold a press conference that opens with this clip, and then have to answer questions about the whole thing. And no, this won't do.

1. The NFL should be required to show cause as to why Belichick has not been suspended indefinitely! aol should be reprimanded for showing this irresponsible N. Lampoon garbage as sports information. Keep it on youtube.

3. Aren't we all tired of this cheating? baseball-steriods, and the legal issues of the basketball teams-especially our pacers plus football players.
I've had it with basketball, they are all thugs.
Sick & tired of the cheating and the criminal charges.

4. I think the NFL should take some of its own medicine and stop the terrible officiating that has taken place and just seems to be allowed as long as the TV rating for that particular demographic is served, In my opinion. Seems a bit hypocritical for them to just let B.B. where the black hat when someone can prove it.

7. i think the commissioner was right. he didn't wanna do anything too drastic. Maybe if some of the Pat's cheating had only rubbed of on Charlie Weis....

8. I see the Ravens beat the Jets yesterday. Obviously the Ravens must have used video tape to steal signs. I call on the Commish to open an investigation into RAVENGATE.....lol

10. Speaking of cheating.....how did this tape make it to FoxSports and be made public? Could it be the Commissioner's wife works for Fox and that's how Fox got the tape?
Does ESPN think Fox cheated here?

12. Its Pretty bad when the idiots come out of the woodwork to add there
two cents. All dominate teams have been attacked for there greatness.
In the 60's it was GreenBay, in the 70's it was Pittsburgh, the 80's
was San Fran, the 90' brought Dallas, now its New England thats on
the chopping block. Greatness mean you win tough games throught all
kinds of adversity, you concentrate on the game at hand each given
week and you kick ass on that team. get over it people. Goodall has
final say ,, not you jerks, and he has already punished New England
already. The only difference now between the past is that other teams
just havent been caught yet. If bullshit was money, with as much as
its being spread around here, i could have retired 20 yrs ago

13. I guess must be stupid. How is it cheating to watch (or videotape for that matter) someone who's out in public? Seems to me that that's your obligation to do as a responsible head coach.
Again, there's no suggestion that thugs hired by the Patriots broke into Jets headquarters and stole confidential information or bugged offices. If I want to watch someone out in public, that's my right....period! Even if it's the coaching staff of an opposing team. ESPECIALLY if it's the coaching staff of an opposing team.
What's next? Reviewing an opponent's game films will be deemed "cheating"? Ridiculous!

14. The motto of today's society in sports is:"Winning games by any means necessary." The reason that the NFL doesn't punish Bill Belicheck is the same reason celebrities get kid glove treatment by law enforcement. The officer doesn't want to get hate mail from the fans of the celebrity.
