It has been a month, so it's time to get some Chris Henry news. This time, Florence, KY police found a stolen car at his home.An officer spotted a car he did not recognize parked in the Cincinnati Bengal's driveway, ran the license plates and discovered the car had been reported stolen by a rental-car company.
Henry told investigators that his own vehicle had been stolen in Louisiana, where he is from originally, and he rented a car from Hertz.
Henry actually thought that the insurance company was making the payments on the rental ... but Hertz said they haven't received a payment from either Henry or his insurance company. So, they reported the car stolen.
The interesting thing about all this is the fact that "an officer spotted a car he didn't recognize" in Henry's driveway. What is that? Do the Florence police send someone to check out Henry's crib from time to time? I mean, I work in Florence and live about 3 minutes away ... so this is pretty bizarre to think he's got that kind of heat on him.
Right now, it isn't known if Henry will face any charges or if the NFL is looking into this. As you know, Henry is suspended eight games for his off-field issues and any slip up could get him the ax for the season.

Let's see, now he steals a car and its the police's fault for finding the car in his drive way. No it's Hertz's fault. No the little white girl next door left it there. No Vick or O.J. left it there after the last dog killing...This guy's a thug, of course the cops keep an eye on him probably as the request of the neighbors. If he lived in the projects where he belongs they could just strip the car...no evidence. He's getting dumber as he gets older.

Whatever Chris Henry's problems have been in the league, I'm still not too terribly comfortable with the idea of a police force rolling by the guy's house intermittently and running the plate numbers of any car they find there. I've heard football players claim they get targeted a bit because of their high profile, and this certainly seems to lend validation to that argument.

While it's unusual for the police to be this preventative, my guess is there's some information they have about some of Henry's activities, or those of his thug posse. Henry made his bed ...
I have no doubt he knew exactly what he was doing and that he had no plans to pay for the rental of this car.

come on anyone who has rented a car even with the insurance company knows that if the insurance is not paying the bill they notify the person who rented the car that the payments have not been made & that they either pay or return the car. maybe he felt he didn't have to return it & that let hertz hash it out with his insurance company (STUPID MOVE). that is his job to get on his insurance company not hertz.

Yes, in Florence the police constantly surveil Chris Henry. The LAST time the guy was in the news for a "problem" with the police was when they pulled him over for a taillight violation, then made him take a drug test, then falsely leaked he had failed the drug test (really getting the blood lusty ones among you stirred up. Having him in jail, banned from the league, all without really knowing anything but what the media reports. Guess they shape and control your minds pretty well). What we do know is Henry's car was stolen. And that he was given this car by his insurance company, and that it was not returned by the 12th. It will all be explained as a clerical error or miscommunication, the story will disappear, then you can all move on to something that is really newsworthy (or perhaps by then some other celebrity or athlete will suffer some sensational tradegy or get caught doing something and the bloodthirsty savages among us will have something new and exciting to talk about! Another "thug" you've never even met or know anything about to condemn and villify.) Lemmings!!

Give the kid a chance. He's doing everything right at this point. He's 23 years old and he's done some dumb things. But he deserves a shot to prove that he's turned it around, and he's done everything that's been asked of him. Things like this, and leaking a FALSE report that he failed a drug test, are a crime in themselves.

Yep, JAB, the same people who are profiling Vick and OJ all in a great, big plot to stop successful blacks from leading a productive life are now framing Chris Henry to get him kicked out of the NFL.
Of course! It all makes sense now!
Skipping the fact that even you have no clue WHY they would go to those lengths, please give me the number for your dealer, because u r smokin the GOOD sh*t!
And... on to this matter. Chris Henry is a moron, but I agree with PFS that this is troubling (I've faced police harassment before.. it aint fun). Also, like Scott said, it's probably just a mix-up of some kind.
I thought if the car was in your driveway it was your property? Can the cops even do this?

WTF! Do we live in a police state or what? Is this 1960's Russia? Where is the probable cause for a cop running a profile on a car parked on private property? What's equally stunning to me, is that there are people on this blog, who find abuse of police power to be acceptable behavior.

nyc,..I really can't make sense of your post. Who said anything about OJ or Vick? I made no such comparison. If you lived here, then you would be aware the DA in Kenton County (Florence) is pretty well on record saying he has a hard on for Henry, thinks he is a thug, and wants to put him in jail. I'm neither black, nor an apologist, I am just saying the truth. Whether it is deserved or not is a topic for another debate, but the simple fact of the matter is they are quite public and pretty obvious in their hyper attention and dogging of Henry. So is it a coincidence they always seem to be in the neigborhood, you know, watching the vehicles that park at Chris Henry's house (now if they drove by my house, or your house, they would have no clue about which cars they recognize or don't, or even care for that matter. The local news here is reporting the car was parked on the street, in front of Henry's house (and not in the driveway, for whatever significance that seems to hold. The law would permit them to run any plates that can be seen "from the public way", the open fields doctrine). Hey, even as a Bengal season ticket holder I would have canned Henry after the second issue came up, and the four game suspension. Great player but his behaviors should not have been tolerated. That having been said, the guy apparently has been doing everything ask of him, is paying for his past indescretions. If they want to watch him, have at it. And if he is doing something really wrong, go get him. But I think at times these stories get legs and everyone gets ahead of themselves, in such a crass and judgemental way, before the full truth is disclosed. Like the LAST time Henry was accused. Or, for those of you who love to keep count, the last THREE times Bengals were accused (Henry, Thurman, Frazier).

JAB - In response to your response, I thought you were taking it somewhere else. Like "He was profiled in a similar way to vick and OJ." Which you weren't, so I was wrong.
- Honestly this is a non-issue... but you would think if Henry KNOWS these maniacs are out to get him (as happened to me once, when I got a cop in trouble for lying on the stand), then he'd make sure he wasn't doing ANYTHING wrong. This whole thing could be avoided by, say, I don't know... ASKING Hertz. A guy with an 8 game suspension and a huge bullseye on his back for trouble should know that.

I wish the police that work in his neighborhood worked in mine. My department wont even show up when there is a robbery in progress next door, nor when someone is being strangled and kicked in the head on my front lawn, not even when you are threatened with a gun...and the police station is 3 blocks away!! Many thanks to Mr. Henry, now I know how to get the police to respond...Next time I'll call Hertz instead of 911!

I agree. I mean maybe the dude is just so busy he just didn't keep track. I know I'm not so busy I would forget to return the very car I was driving...lol The local NBC News in Cinci reported that the police have concluded there was an honest to goodness misunderstanding apparently between Henry and his insurance company as to who was paying. Hertz reported it stolen as a common practice because of how many cars are stolen from them according to the County Sheriff spokesperson. It appears they are satisfied, the entire shebang was a big nothing, so it appears I am on here blogging about,...a bit nothing (and how sad it that!!? I'm outta here!) : )
