For a couple of days, at least. It seems like only last season that the all-timer was weighing a return to the NBA. Then, either a lack of interest or a quick glance at his driver's lance convinced Scottie Pippen to stay retired. Now, though, he's decided to dust off the old Maestros and play two games with Finland's Torpan Pojat, or "ToPo". From Reuters:
"We are discussing details now, such as when and in which matches he will play," ToPo's general manager Aleksi Valavuori said.Probably not "the best player ever to have played in Europe", but certainly the most famous American baller. He'll steal that distinction from former teammate Dennis Rodman, who did a brief stint with ToPo in 2005. But until Stephon Marbury or Ron Artest leave the NBA for Europe, this title is pretty much just a novelty.
"He would be the best player ever to have played in Europe."
He declined to reveal how much Pippen would be paid for the two matches, but said it was not a six-figure amount in euros.

If I remember correctly, I believe Magic Johnson played a few games in Sweden for M7 in 1999. They renamed the team Magic M7 when he played.

I loved the Maestros. Even when the Fab Five rocked the white/navy/maize ones with the black socks they still looked fresh.

Pippen is one of the dumbest human beings to walk the earth. He must have been unable to manage all the money he made in the NBA.

I don't understand the knee-jerk trash-talk reaction; that's just hatin'. And I'm not even a big Scottie fan. He wanted to come back to the NBA 'cause he misses playin'. No one would have 'em, and this Euro team known for employin' celeb NBAers offered him some cash, so he did it. He's bored. He's gonna have a blast. Not a tough decision.
He may be even tryin' to use this opportunity to show he's got some gas left in the tank.
I doubt Scottie's hurtin' for cash.

Hes a true talent that misses the game , thats all.
To think that hes broke is crazy , trust me , hes got a mansion here in florida that he vacations at , and a couple more across the country . If someone is offering easy money ....why not take it . Perhaps hes testing the waters so to speak in preparation for a come back.

The game gets in your blood. I'm still paying and I'm in my 60s for nothing except the fun and competition. Scottie isn't broke,it is just hard to not compete when you have done so all your life.

Let him give it a shot. Im still rooting for him to be faster than Mike Jordan. Always rooting for the underdog. It'd be awesome if he could average 30 or more points a game in the two games. He just needs to intimidate them europeans, and make layup, after layup. Shoot light.

Had the distinct un-pleasure of meeting this AZZ in Chicago. He is a real jerk to his fans. And all he did was ride MJ's coattails, what has he done WITHOUT MJ? NADA. There you go. He sucks. Period. Send him overseas-hope he stays there.

In Europe, Scottie won't suffer the 'No Tippin' Pippen' reference, since they usually add the tip on the bill. Pippen the Man, left babies all over the place, pushed his girlfriends around, ran his business manager out of money with Pippen and his wife's schemes. Keep the bum in Europe. I'm sure he'll be lookin' for some new love while there. Posterior orifice.
