Rams: Gus Frerotte Starts, Marc Bulger Sits

Rams quarterback Marc Bulger will sit Sunday when the Rams take on the Arizona Cardinals, and Gus Frerotte will start in his place.

The move, which was first reported by Pro Football Talk and later picked up by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, comes as Bulger is struggling through an injury-plagued season. Bulger has broken ribs and a bruised knee and has averaged just 5.8 yards per pass, with two touchdown and four interceptions. Last year Bulger averaged 7.3 yards per pass and threw 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

It's not clear how long Frerotte will be the Rams' starter. This move could just be a one-week thing to help Bulger make a complete recovery, or it could represent a major vote of no-confidence in Bulger from coach Scott Linehan. If it's the latter, that's very bad news, seeing as the franchise signed Bulger to a six-year, $60 million contract.
