When you're talking about the Chiefs, it's always too early to assume they have the game in hand. But today, I'll go out on a limb and give them this one against the suddenly hapless Bengals. Kansas City, who stumbled through the first few weeks of the season, have shown signs recently of not being a completely inept team.
They've won two of their last three, and today's eventual victory over the Bengals will make it three of four. It looks like the Brodie Croyle talk will subside for at least another week -- through three quarters, Damon Huard is 18 of 27 for 181 yards and a touchdown -- and Larry Johnson has rushed for more than 100 yards for the first time since 2006.
The Bengals, on the other hand, learned nothing from their bye week -- other than they're not a very good team -- and are another blowout or two away from a full-on implosion. Carson Palmer has been sacked four times today -- three thanks to Jared Allen -- and things have gotten so bad that head coach Marvin Lewis has benched tackle Levi Jones.
But hey, at least Jones can still sue Joey Porter, the only guy in the league who's had a worse go of it recently.
