The Denver Broncos had every reason to celebrate last night. They beat a good Pittsburgh Steelers team at home to return to .500 and snap a three-game losing streak and they did so with their most impressive offensive performance of the season. A big part of that performance was Brandon Marshall. Bumped up to the number one receiver slot with Javon Walker's injury, Marshall led the team with six catches and 77 yards. That gave him even more reason to celebrate. It appears Marshall celebrated a bit too much. Marshall was arrested early this morning on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was stopped in the LoDo section of Denver around 2 A.M., issued a summons and released. The Broncos are aware of the arrest but have no comment at this time.
Thankfully Marshall didn't get into an accident that hurt himself or other people but it's sadly unsurprising to hear of a NFLer arrested for DUI. For all the justified hoopla surrounding Michael Vick and Pacman Jones, drunk driving accounts for one-third of all arrests among NFL players. Roger Goodell has made off-field conduct a major part of his tenure, it remains to be seen if his iron fist will land on Marshall for a fine or suspension.
