Here's how terrible, horrible, no good and very bad this Jets season has been - Chad Pennington is probably going to be replaced as the starting quarterback after his best game of the season. Pennington was 20-of-31 for 272 yards and three touchdowns, numbers that would normally be strong enough to keep a job. Yes, he threw a late pick that was returned for a touchdown in the final minute but that didn't cause the Jets loss. It was a defensive line that gave up 130 yards to Kenny Watson. It was Darrelle Revis drawing two pass-interference penalties. It was Abram Elam taking a punch at Watson and getting a 15-yard flag. It was Ben Graham's 20-yard punt to give the Bengals great field position in the third and it was an offensive line that blew a snap and stopped doing its job in the second half. In other words, everyone has blood on their hands.
Yet at 1-6 and with only next year to play for it will likely be Pennington who pays for the loss with his job. He helped get them to this point and they need to find out if Kellen Clemens is the future so its hard to argue with that choice. Perhaps getting Pennington out of the way will allow the focus to shift to the myriad problems that have made the Jets a contender for the first overall draft pick and away from one guy who could only do so much.

1. Chad has the heart of a lion and the arm of a noodle.
Don't worry, Mangenius will turn the Jet ship around.
He's waiting for Rocky 6 to be shown to the team.

2. The first of those Revis penalties was some of the better coverage I've seen all season and a poor call. He in no way adjusted the receiver's route and made a good play on the ball. Revis got hosed again by the refs with the simultaneous catch crap near the end. Holt's hands were sliding all over as Revis had a firm grip with his own... Yes the Jets blew it, but it was Pennington that turned the game from winnable to over

4. dustin who made the game winnable, i didn't see any rushing tds, the d couldn't stop watson the backup to rudi johnson, go check out his stats before and after the game, there were also some tough calls, not chads fault.

5.
Pennington will always be a good QB and probably a good team mate. The Jets need more, beginning with the front office. New England got Randy Moss and look at them now. Where was the Jet front office when this was going on?
If you have ever seen Pennington throw a pass, you'll be shocked at how slow it travels. Easy to pick off.
D'Brickshaw, who? Who made the decision on this one? So, instead of Matt Leinart, the geniuses decided on D'Brickshaw, who? And what has he done this year? There are other examples of incompetence and bad decision making, but the draft is coming again and so will free agents be coming.

7. look, you dont need a GREAT quarterback to go to or win the superbowl(Trent Dilfer, Kerry Collins, Rex Grossman, Brad Johnson) Chad is just as good as them. The quarterback is an important part in the machine, but just a one part. You can have a great quarterback (Dan Marino) and never win a superbowl too. If Tom Brady was the Jets quarterback this year, we would still be just and average team at best. We need to fix all the other problems if we are ever going to compete in the league.

8. I have trouble even watching the Jets. The offense leaves so many point on the field by getting to the red zone then settling for field goals instead of TDs it's rediculus. But that's not why I can't watch them. It's the defense. They can't stop the run and they have no pass rush at all. Sacks, how many do they have this year? It seems like opposing QBs can have a cup of coffee and a doughnut while they're looking for open receivers. And talk about closing out games. No Jets lead is safe until the final gun sounds. By that time a game they completely controlled ends up being a 3 point win. Its happened once this year right?

9. Bill , I doubt it . Dustin , good call. Billyboy , only Vinny could go as deep as any other , Chad is lucky he made it, in his 1st preseason game he looked like the snail he is . Bk , the whole Jet team is built around Chad and his style of play , even the Dfense, punts are based on whether the d can get the ball in decent feild position for a long sustained drive . Jpetrulo, tannembaum is all about hype, if he had a football clue the Offensiveline wouldnt be wearing Redskins jersys and LEON Washinton would STILL be running w/ a 4.3 rushing ave. Scott, too bad penington had so much talent around him 3 yrs. ago, Martin , Chrebet and a solid Oline bailed his ass out of so many games . John , your way off, ya think Coles and Cotchery cant run as fast or good as welker or moss ??? they even got better hands . Steve , you got a point BUT , winning is contagious , if you beleive in football the way I do , mangini made so many misakes REPEATEDLY , 1- we intercept in the redzone , and dont pass into the endzone , settle for FGs. 3 times this yr. 2-he teaches the 4thdwn. drawemoffsides play, how does your own LBr jumpoff ? 3-in one loss trailing, he never used a time-out, go figure. 4-he didnt play Baker this week, they lost. 5- no blitz , 3-4??? DUHHH. so the JetD will only play as good as the HC and Ofense.

10. hey guy's chad is not the problem, yes he does not have a rocket arm but he has heart and he cares. the problem is the defence we have the second worst defense in the nfl. this past week the defense gave up 38 points. Football 101 defences win games we are not winning. I love the jets, we need a defense,we have lost the best defensive players we have had. we heed bigger guys on defense. yes i would like a joe montana but how would he do if he had no defense or offensive line.
