Cowboys Sign Tony Romo to Six-Year, $67.5 Million Contract Extension

ESPN's Ed Werder and Matt Mosley are reporting that the Dallas Cowboys have signed quarterback Tony Romo to a six-year, $67.5 million contract, with $31 million guaranteed.

That makes Romo one of the highest-paid players in NFL history. Romo was scheduled to become a free agent after this season, and there had been conflicting reports about how much Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would be willing to pay to keep him. Apparently, he was willing to pay a lot.

Romo is in his first full season as the Cowboys' starter after taking over for Drew Bledsoe during the 2006 season. Through the first 17 starts of his NFL career, Romo has completed more than 64 percent of his passes, with 35 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.

Werder and Mosley report that the deal will be officially announced at a press conference tomorrow morning.
