Lowell World Series MVP, Papelbon Robbed?

Mike Lowell was named World Series MVP after batting .400 during the four games, including a clutch Game 4 home run. Lowell also doubled to lead off the 5th and scored Boston's second run of Game 4. Lowell went 1-for-3 with a double in both Game 1 and Game 2, and went 2-for-5 in Game 3 with a two-run single that gave the Red Sox a nice cushion. In what turned out to be a career-year for Lowell, it was not much of a shock to see how well he swung it in the playoffs.

Though Lowell certainly had worthy credentials for the MVP honors, I can't help but think that Jonathan Papelbon was slightly more deserving, or at the least, worthy of co-MVP honors. Papelbon closed out three of the four Red Sox wins, coming in during the 8th inning in all three. Furthermore, two of his saves came in one-run games with no margin for error, and twice he mowed through Helton, Atkins, and Hawpe to end games. From the way the Red Sox were celebrating, I'm guessing they hardly cared. Everyone on the roster contributed to the team's win, and they should be proud of their accomplishments, putting individual awards aside.
