A lot of people took issue with Scott Boras' handling of the announcement that Alex Rodriguez would opt-out of his contract with the Yankees. Bob DuPuy, MLB's chief operating officer, was one of those people, releasing a statement chastising Boras for the timing. From the AP:"There was no reason to make an announcement last night other than to try to put his selfish interests and that of one individual player above the overall good of the game," DuPuy said. "Last night and today belong to the Boston Red Sox, who should be celebrated for their achievement, and to the Colorado Rockies, who made such an unbelievable run to the World Series."The words didn't fall on deaf ears, as
"I apologize to the Boston Red Sox and Colorado Rockies and their players, Major League Baseball and its players, and baseball fans everywhere for that interference," he said in a statement. "The teams and players involved deserved to be the focus of the evening and honored with the utmost respect. The unfortunate result was not my intent, but is solely my fault. I could have handled this situation better, and for that I am truly sorry."And by sorry, he means "not sorry at all, and I'd probably do it again." It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission, right? What Boras did was sneaky and underhanded ... and in the absolute best interest of his client. It's his job to build the hype surrounding Rodriguez, and the fact that some people wanted to talk about A-Rod's plans instead of the World Series is proof that he's doing his job. Yes, there is a little bad P.R. involved with this kind of move, but Boras can position himself to absorb most of the blame, protecting his client. As much as everyone in the media likes to pile on the guy, can you honestly say he wouldn't be your top pick to negotiate your next salary? I didn't think so.

BOR ASS is just a jerk with a lot of money and his own agenda. I am equally upset that FOX interrupted a great game with the garbage about A Rod. I didn't tune in to the World Series to listen to a bunch of garbage that i don't care about. Remember that this would NOT have been as "newsworthy" had FOX not made it so that night.

To MLB, Scott Boras and Alex Rodriguez are like hookers in Amsterdam. You know they're bad for you, you can't stop yourself from looking at them, and once you've dipped in, you've caught something that you can't get rid of.
Don't blame the owners. They are petulant little children with lots of money. How can you blame them. Show them a handful of shiny beads, and they'll swear their diamonds, and pay through the nose to have them. A-Rod is the beads, Boras is the shady peddlar.
For MLB to be offended by the timing of Boras' announcement is a show of exactly how much power they actually hold when it comes to control of "The Game." They state when a player can announce his free agency, but not when he can't. If Boras and his dog and pony show want to upstage the World Series, whose to stop them. I can see Boras' secretary typing out the apology to mail to Bud Selig now. Or maybe she will leave it on his voice mail.
The poor attempt by Major League Baseball to show that they care about this continued assault by Boras and his agent on the game, reinforces who actually runs this thing. I am preparing to buy my share of MLB from A-Rod when he purchases it from Selig for some of those shiny beads

HE'S AN AGENT! Not a baseball exec, player, or chaplain for the game. The Red Sox don't pay him...ARod and the rest of the greedy...well I'll censor myself because at least he earns his money. But none of his clients on the Red Sox are calling him names...World Series or not. They play today for the money!

Alex Rodriguez is a looser. He may be the best baseball player EVER. But that does not change the fact that he is a looser. Besides the fact that no team he has played for wins, this looser lets his employee, Scott Boras, try to upstage the very game that he yearns to be in, the last game of the World Series.
Here is a dream I have. Alex Rodriguez sits out the 2008 season because no one is interested in paying this looser 30 million a year, knowing that he may bring you to the primised land, but in the end, he will never deliver the prize.
Wouldn't it be nice to see Rodriguez and that other looser Barry Bonds sitting on a beach somewhere eating their millions instead of contaminating the greatest game ever created. Unfortunately, the owners of this great game are even more seady than the players they hire. One of these bastards will surely pay both of these loosers exactly what they want. And we, the public will shell out outrageous fees to these bastard owners to watch these loosers.

Scott is as big a loser as some of his clients...players batting .260 and making millions of dollars. I remember when Willie Mays was making $100,000 per year. Tell me any of his clients are better, for the money they are making. And you Scott, saying your story release regarding A-Rod wasn't intentional....ha, we're not as dumb as you think we are. Many of us are dumb though for propagating people like you by attending sporting events played by players who are just like you..."Get all the money you can...there's a sucker born every minute"!!!

If I had 1 wish, I would wish that the team that signs A-Rod, never wins another game ever. Lets see, you get paid $25m a year and you have incentives in your contract if you win an MVP, lead the league in HR's, etc. If you mage that much money those should be a given. As a kid I used to love baseball, now with the spoiled players, owners and games ending at 1am because of tv, I hate it.

Dear Mr. Boras & A-Rod,
You both knew exactly what you were doing when you both chose to make the announcement! Those of us that know how you operate (Mr. Boras), you were posturing your client, A-Rod (choke-Rod). It's not like your client is hurting for the money. How do you turn down millions of dollars? You may felt you both got your feeling hurt when the Yanks didn't make the offer during the season. And, you mentioned that A-Rod didn't know how "his" starting pitcher, catcher, and relief pitcher were going to do? Last I checked the the team A-Rod plays for is the Yankees, not the A-Rods! Did you ever think, maybe the players didn't want to tell A-Rod? In any event, you both are what we don't like about the game-way too greedy, and the hard working fans pay for it. A-Rod, you are a choke artist in post season any way. You've proven that during your Yankee career. I hope nobody signs you, and if they do, its for less money.
Sincerely,
An Average Fan

Boras knows extactly what FOX SPORTS knows -- NY and A-Rod ARE the story. Timing was perfect for the true baseball fan -- who know as NY goes so goes the sport. Whaddya think -- Jon Lester being in chemo last year is riveting? Gonna get your late breaking news out of... Pittsburgh? Kansas City? Boston?
C'mon. The reason we are all talking about it is because he called it right. You can whine all you want. The very fact yer whining means... YOU NOTICED. 'Nuff said.

WHY NOT!
the Yankees biggest need is a big Right handed power hitter @ 6'6"
220 that big enough with his big bat?
, he can play first so you know he can play the infield! and he plays
RF so you know he can throw!
as posted in the ny times sports section

He had a clubhouse attendant do his laundry as soon as he arrived
Friday, and by yesterday he found himself rounding the bases while
the score of “The Natural” played in the background.
“It’s a crazy experience,” Duncan said.
In the dugout, as the fans stood for Duncan, Torre turned to
Rodriguez. “I said to Alex, You’re not the guy anymore,” Torre
said.
