The Word:

The End Is Nigh

We've all known it was coming, we just had no idea when. Since the dawn of man, we have long predicted our own downfall. Be it timelines found on the walls of Egyptian pyramids, or predictions from men like Nostradamus, everybody is pretty sure this world of ours is going to end.

Today we have yet one more sign that the world, at least as we know it, is going to end, and it will end very shortly.

Notre Dame is favored this weekend. By 3.5 points no less!

Get your goodbyes out of the way now, kids.

Of course, the Irish aren't favored because they're a good team or anything, it's just because they're playing against Navy. The Irish haven't lost to the Midshipmen in 44 years, and are 70-9-1 all time against the service academy. It's the longest win streak against one opponent in all of college football.

All of which makes me wonder if this isn't the year that Notre Dame finally loses to Navy. You would think that the Irish should win this game on talent alone, and also for the fact that they had an extra week to prepare after having last Saturday off, but I remind you: Notre Dame really, really sucks this year.

If the Irish do somehow manage to find a way to blow this one, I'm thinking Charlie Weis needs to be fired on Sunday.
